Activities and AttractionsThe Cape even though very laid back and secluded from the busy world has plenty to do. Our kids when they were young loved to build sandcastles in the sand, shelling, skim boarding, boogie boarding, fishing from the shore or on a rainy day heading over to Apalach. The State Park is nearby where you can access the bay. There is picnic tables and a play area too. Happy Ours Kayaks offers Kayak rentals and tours. This was really fun for the kids. Please do call ahead of time if you would like a guilded tour. They will also take you out to scallop during season. St Vincent Island Shuttle offer shuttle tours, fishing & oystering. Heard great things about Captain Joey. We always have to take a trip to Cone Heads at some point to get a hand dipped Ice cream cone. They also serve fabulous hamburgers. Get there early it's a small place. Loggerheads on the Cape, very good entrees' or pizza. In Indian Pass we have the famous Indian Pass Raw Bar. Everyone needs to check this place out. Best oysters on the half shell there are. You can get em raw, baked or steamed. They have shrimp too! steamed only. The Scallop Cove BP offers a bait store and rentals of kayaks, canoes, bicycles, beach chairs and umbrellas. They also have gifts and amazing assortment of "things" one might need or have forgotten to bring. Just 15 minutes away is Port St Joe. Even though we are small St Joe has several very good restuarants, a grocery store and some of the best BBQ I've ever had. Paul Gants BBQ is only open Thur-Sat and you have to get there early before they sell out. Take out only. The pulled pork is a favorite! Stop by and get a 1/4, 1/2 or whole butt, stop by the pig and get some buns and you have some of the best BBQ sandwiches there are outside of Texas. The ribs are really good too! Sunset Coastal is a very nice, has great entree's and the view from the back deck is great. The Marina restuarant is a very relaxed atmosphere where you can watch the boats coming in and out while eating on the deck. Hear they have an awesome grouper sandwich. And don't let me forget Pepper's Mexican restaurant. Wow! It's really good! The service is amazing and everything is fresh! Have pretty good margaritas too. Well,, If this isn't enough you can head to Apalachicola (30 minute drive). They have lots of great eating places and some really nice shops downtown. You can park your car and walk the downtown area. Places to eat, Poppa Joe's, The grill, The owl cafe, Boss oyster (you can take your dogs here and sit outside), Steamers.
