A wonderful week!

Review submitted: August 14, 2014   Date of arrival: August 3, 2014

Just had a wonderful week in this lovely home! There was 11 of us in our group - 9 adults ranging in age from 60's-20's and two children (5&3). The house was perfect for us giving us loads of room to spread out and several places to come together as a group. We all particularly loved the outside fireplace area and the theatre room. The little ones in our group just could not get enough of the theatre room! The house was clean, comfortable and fully equipped with everything we needed. The owners were there to greet us and familiarize us with the house. They were friendly and helpful and we greatly appreciate them sharing their beautiful home! The area provided us with much to do including swimming at the State Park beach, pontoon rental, fishing, hiking and just plain relaxing. My husband is a Civil War buff and all the battle sights around the area were a huge plus for him. The local winery was a nice day trip for the ladies too. Everyone agreed that it was a great time!

On less thing to worry about!

Review submitted: June 4, 2014   Date of arrival: May 30, 2014

We checked into this house because of the perfect location to our daughter's wedding venue. She got married at Lake Anna Winery and it was a beautiful day! All of our family were coming from out of town, so this was the perfect home for the group. The house was located in the quiet neighborhood and right down the street from the grooms house (where the rehearsal dinner was held. Again...perfect location. The family had their own private space and when some went to bed the downstairs billiard room was a perfect location for the remaining people to visit! I can't say enough about this beautiful house and with the helpfulness of the staff that helped make this rental possible. The family is already talking about renting the home for a week as a reunion visit! Thank you very much for sharing your beautiful property!

Owners response: Thank you for your wonderful review! We are very pleased that you were able to have a home close enough to your daughter's wedding venue and the groom's family. We loved working with you, and look forward to working with you and your family in the future!

Warm regards,

Relaxation at its finest!

Review submitted: August 27, 2013   Date of arrival: August 23, 2013

This vacation property was so much more than what one may gather from the pictures! My stay was for a Young Professionals networking weekend. The home provided the perfect feel for everyone to immediately become comfortable. Medical professionals, Entertainment professionals, and Fashion professionals were among the guest. They all could not agree more that this home lends to a much needed feeling of escape from their hectic everyday lives. The home was so spacious I almost got lost each time I went to my room. The landscape was spectacular! Multiple areas to sit quietly and unwind near gently flowing water. The gazebo's lounge table conceals a fire pit as well as the stone fireplace in the same area! The chill of being in a heavily wooded space was perfect to light a few fires and enjoy late night conversation in the hot tub in August. As I create this review, I'm thinking of more reasons to have a vacation here in the very near future! The property had a warm, lived in feel. It was like visiting home! Beautiful just beautiful! Now I've read other reviews and wondered why some reviewers gave 4 stars in a seemingly great review, so here's why I give 4 stars instead of 5. When I arrived (earlier than the guest), it appeared that a group may have left just before our scheduled check in time. The management didn't seem to have enough time to fully survey the home before preparing it for our arrival. There was a human fecal left in the basement toilet and other bathrooms had human hairs in drawers, floors etc. Linens were provided (for a fee) and some did not match or did not fit the mattress it was left for (I brought extra linens just in case). The oven had baked on foods and would smoke terribly when used, so with lots of elbow grease, I scrubbed it fairly clean. There is evidence of live mice (droppings in the oven drawer, under furniture etc throughout the home (field mice are to be expected in such a rural area though). There were a few dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Yes, the water through out the home plumbing is rust colored (bring bottled for consumption, cooking, rinsing, even laundry if you choose to do that). Even with these issues, the experience was not ruined and the guest were able to thoroughly enjoy themselves. That was the goal and it was truly a success. I plan to return for a personal, adult family vacation stay! I can not wait to go back!
