This House was Excellent - Had everything needed - Perfect Dock for the Boat...

Cat. Tad Had Ice for Sale at the Dock to make it easier for All your Fishing and Keeping Your Beer Cold...

Plenty of space for Both Cars, Trucks and Boat Trailer...

Nice Clean Area and the Access to the Beach, Pool ans Spa was excellent as Well as Good Food and place to have a few Drinks right on the beach...

Terrific Keys Rental

On July 2nd, 2011 we arrived in Key Colony Beach after we trailered the flattest flats boat ever and put in at the local boat ramp,we were provided with impeccable directions on how to get to the dock at there home.We were greeted by Tad and Susan followed by Tater and BJ(cutest dogs I have ever seen)and Starboard and Port(best birds EVER!). The accomodations are perfect for someone who wants to feel like they never left home, they have all the neccesities in the condo and if it isnt there be assured they will allow you to borrow it. They have a outside area that has a grill for your use and multiple chairs to lounge in. As for the dock yes there is a small ladder which at low tide you may have to step down two rungs to get in or out of your boat,but we loaded and unloaded and used it multipe times a day with no problem at all. After the last review we were a bit nervous to use the dock but were surprised as the ease of use. You are minutes from the ocean,bay side and 2 marinas which supply bait, which is a definite plus for any fisherman. Tad and Susan are amazing, they live there so you see them on a regular basis they were like our parents away from home (our ages ranged from 26-30)always asking how our trips went and willing to help us find the best locations for what we were looking for. We are hoping to return in September to do some lobstering with Tad, if we dont make it down we will most definetely be booking this place next year. Hands down one of the best places we have stayed in the Keys!

Boat owners don't stay here.

If you plan to keep your boat in the canal behind the duplex where you will be staying then you will be VERY disappointed. Everyone else has a wooden dock that is needed because the water level is so far down the sea wall. There is no wooden dock for your use, you and your family will have to climb up/and down an 8 foot ladder to reach your boat (sharp barnacles are growing at the end of the ladder) making it impossible to load and unload the boat. This is an accident waiting to happen and to top it off, the fish cleaning table is right over your boat space (need I say more?). You will have to keep your boat on the trailer and trailer it each time to plan to put you boat in/out of the water. You are not getting what you are paying for at this property.

Owners response: We have operated our vacation rental here for 18 years. In that time we have never at any time had a complaint about our boat dockage or fish cleaning table. My wife Susan and I Capt. Tad live on site always go out of our way to make sure our customers have the best time they have ever had staying in the Fl Keys. David and friends stayed with us the week of June 4th to 11th. First of all David received a 20% discount for the weeks rent. It was windy that week and he and friends did not go out in their boat for the first 3 days, the boat sat in the driveway on the trailer. Everyone seemed to be having a great time however relaxing and visiting the keys. Mother nature does bring windy weather to us on occaison. Later in the week David and friends did go for the entire day with boat and trailer and returned each afternoon with the boat and trailer to the house. I assumed they went and fished the bridges launching the boat near there so they would not have to fight the wind. At no time was anything ever conveyed to us about our dock or fishcleaning table being a problem. David never brought his boat back to our dock. If he had he would have seen there is no problem. He has an 18 ft boat which at high tide would be level with our seawall. At low tide he would step down 2 steps to get on his boat. The shells he refers to at the base of the ladder are there because that part of the ladder is generally under water.That part is never used because all boats have 2 to 4 ft of hull sticking out of the water above it. The fish cleaning table is one of the nicest in the neighborhood. It is large enough to clean your biggest dolphin. I have a gutting shoot attached to funnel any entrals straight down to the water missing any boat tied up there. If David had actually used this part of the rental he would have seen that there is no problem what so ever. Some properties have docks, some have pilings next to the seawall. The statement about everyone else having docks is untrue. We love our customers, we have been here for many years and enjoy seeing folks return year after year. Hopefully David will get better weather next year if he returnes to our area. Good Fishing and Tight Lines, Capt Tad. Owner Operator of Tad's Place......
