vacation rental description
Watch sunsets from the front porch of this comfortable, sunny 6
bedroom Victorian home, located conveniently in the Sunset Hill
area of the old Historic District, just a short walk to the town
center and 3 ocean beaches (new kitchen and deck in 2009).
Step into the living room with its antique mantel over the
fireplace. Bookshelves filled with interesting titles about
Nantucket, shipwrecks, and children's stories invite browsing.
You'll find 2 sofas, rocking chairs, a stereo
with CD, MP3, MD, and cassette, TV with DVD and VCR... and
a table carved in the shape of a whale.
The kitchen (remodeled in 2009) has a dishwasher and disposal,
a 20+ cubic foot refrigerator, and a ceramic topped stove ;
a galley pantry has a 2nd sink and lots of cabinet space.
The dining room has a large table seating 12 and corner hutches.
At the rear of the first floor is a cozy den with sofa bed and
rocking chair. There are many children's games and toys and a
video center with PlayStation 3 and X-Box, cable TV, VHS, DVD,
video games, and Internet access.
The master bedroom on the ground floor has a queen bed and
adjoining bathroom with whirlpool tub.
The second floor has 5 more bedrooms, each cheerily
decorated with ruffled curtains and a distinctive color scheme.
The rooms include 2 with queen beds, 2 with 2 twins each, and
1 with a day bed that converts into a king. There are two bathrooms upstairs.
The backdoor leads onto a deck (new in 2009) with charcoal grill.
The yard is completely fenced in with trees, flowering shrubs,
a picnic table, a child's swing, and an outdoor hot and cold shower.
In the garage is a 4-wheel pedal surrey with fringe on top that
you can "bike" to the beach.
"Beary Quaint" had its origin as the 19th century life saving
station on Muskeget Island off Nantucket's western coast. In
1931, the structure was taken down and moved to its current
location. Though the layout of the rooms has changed, the
original woodwork gives Beary Quaint an older, more Victorian
feel. Hardwood floors, lace curtains, patchwork quilts, quaint
wallpaper, stenciled walls, teddy bears, and furniture chosen for
comfort make this 6-bedroom home ideal for family gatherings.
