My comfortable beach house is at milepost 3 in Kitty Hawk,
about a block from the beach access to the Atlantic Ocean.
It's a great place to swim, fish (especially in fall and spring),
enjoy surfing and other water sports, and just relax.
This is a not-so-crowded part of the Outer Banks, more relaxing than
Nags Head, which is a short drive of only about 6 miles away.
Banks, grocery stores and other shopping are about 2 miles, and
the Kitty Hawk Post Office is about a mile away. There are many
good restaurants nearby also, some within walking distance.
This is a great area to ride your bike, if you bring it along!
Jockey's Ridge in nearby Nags Head is a good place to try out
hang-gliding, or to see how high you can fly your kite,
and an exciting half day can be spent visiting the spot where Wilbur and
Orville Wright made the first controlled heavier-than-air powered
airplane flights. Hatteras Island is a good day trip, where you can
enjoy unspoiled beaches, even more fishing, camping or hiking, and the
Hatteras lighthouse, one of the tallest and oldest in the country,
with its distinctive black and white diagonal stripes. This is a
wonderful romantic place for a couple and great for a small family.
Sorry, I cannot allow smoking or pets. For summer 2009, you have a special rate of $850, with a $50 discount if fully paid 2 weeks ahead. I will give you the 2009 rate in the summer of 2010 if fully paid ($50 cleaning fee and $500 refundable security deposit included) by October 1, 2009. Labor Day weekend that does not include entire week will be $600.
