Elegant serenity: an idyllic, unforgettable W. Michigan lifestyle experience
Unique design aesthetics, exquisite architecture and elegant decor make for an unusual lifestyle vacation. Situated in a Spring Lake, the Carriage House is unexpectedly stunning, and the welcome provided by the Coston family warm and personal.
"Having grown up in design, fashion and retail, our living environment is like a series of display vignettes, something we continually change," says Kim Coston.
With late 1890's architecture , the Carriage House is decorated with pure charm:
tasteful original sculpture and art French country and American antiques
eclectic mid-century touches: Stickley, Herman Miller, Eames, Heywood-Wakefield, George Nelson.
Part of the historic Klingman estate, Littlefield Lane is an exclusive residential neighborhood on Spring Lake, and the original estate buildings still exist.
Nearby, the majestic, original main house on a lake point.
A unique boathouse is perched above the water at lakeside.
Other estate houses on the next lane: a chicken coop-- which happens to be where we grew up--a caretaker's house,an apple storage house.
All have been renovated into splendid private homes. We will be happy give you a private neighborhood tour.
The Coston's are known in the area for creative restorations having
renovated 3 retail fashion stores, 1historic bar/restaurant the Bear Lake Tavern (N.Muskegon), 2 vintage 1950's homes in Florida.
Farrer Coston, an accomplished furniture designer (Haworth, Baker, Mueller) and
sculptor, has a variety of his works at the Carriage House.
