house rental amenities

Take a short stroll north along the beach to the Raftshol Vineyard's Wine Tasting Room, mention Chris sent you, and the first bottle is on me!  While you are there, sample their many flavorful award winning vintages.

Need to stay plugged-in while on vacation?  Use our free Wi-Fi internet access.

Have a boat?  Tie up to our secure mooring, and use our dock and canoe for access.  Of course, the canoe is also available for guests without a boat!  We also provide a kayak and an offshore swim raft.

Very secluded and private location - the north side of the property is adjacent to wooded undeveloped farm property.  The house is about 150 heavily wooded yards east of M-22 - creating a pleasant and welcome buffer from the road (which is not visible from the house).  The property is on the water and has direct access to the waterfront - no roads or other barriers to cross.  The beach is 17 stair steps below the house/deck.  As you stroll the beach, watch for the bald eagle nests in the treetops along the shoreline.

Beach conditions: The beach features a newly installed 65' x 20' sand area that provides plenty of room to relax and enjoy the waterfront.  In other areas along the 232 feet of frontage, the sandiness/rockiness of the beach varies from year to year, depending on the water level, winter ice and storms, etc.  It is typically a mixture of smooth pebbles and sand.  The beach also has a nice fire pit with a large sitting log, and plenty of firewood for your summer bonfire parties!

activities and attractions in Suttons Bay Michigan

Located next to a vineyard, and just 2.5 miles north of Suttons Bay, this charming home has so much to offer and couldn't have a better location or view.  Aside from the 28 vineyards in Leelanau County, this home is only a few miles from the Leelanau Sands Casino, and close to local farm markets, shopping, dining, art galleries and all of the many other attractions of the picturesque Leelanau peninsula.

The area hosts many activities; including the Cherry Festival and other local festivals, arts and crafts shows, concerts in the park, casinos, wineries, the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes (a must), performances at the Interlochen Arts Academy and the Opera House; you're certain to stay as busy or as relaxed as you want to be.

Enjoy fishing charter boats, catamaran sunset cruises, parasailing (for those who are brave), jet-ski rentals, hot-air balloon rides, our local markets, cherry picking (and other fruits depending upon the season), and hiking trails.

Looking to golf?  Perfect area for that!  Fantastic golf courses surround Traverse City.  Want to go fishing?  Look no further.  Shopping?  How about a large mall, an outlet mall, and amazing local shops to find that special treasure.  The dining is also fabulous, and we have amazing local chefs that will prepare scrumptious meals that you`ll want to tell your friends and family about, not to mention the many restaurants with gorgeous waterfront views.

Property as described

Review submitted: September 24, 2012   Date of arrival: September 14, 2012

Decided to take a last minute weekend trip(4 night getaway). Property was described as secluded with private beach and no other people around, and it was exactly that. While the shore itself is rocky, they have a sandy area to relax in and have night-time fires. We bought firewood without realizing that there was plenty of firewood on the back side of the house. The breezes from the water into the huge picture windows were fantastic. The home is in great shape. iPod stereo dock to play your music, HD antenna on the TV for 6-8 channels of HD TV (Fox, NBC, etc). Plenty of towels. Beds were very comfy. Huge kitchen with all of the plates, glasses, cook-wear that you could want. Location to Leland was 15 minutes, to Sleep Bear Dunes was 20-25 minutes. Chris, was extremely friendly and very prompt with his phone calls, e-mails and deposit refund. We were very happy and hope to take another trip to this property soon. Thank you Chris.

Baylake Cottage

Scott & Linda (Hudsonville, MI)
Review submitted: July 27, 2012   Date of arrival: July 14, 2012

This was our second amazing stay at Baylake Cottage. Chris is very hospitable and wants to be sure everyone has an enjoyable stay in his well appointed cottage. We always arrive to a very clean place and appreciated the flowers and treats upon arrival. This is a great location giving you the wanted seclusion while being close to all the shopping, dining and wineries offered in Suttons Bay, Leland, Glen Arbor and all along M22! We also enjoyed seeing the Port Oneida historic farms and sunsets from atop the Sleeping Bear Dunes. We loved sipping wine or coffee on the deck and watching the light hit the pristine bay waters and beach while taking in the wildlife. We have seen Gray Fox’s, Cedar Wax Wings, American Redstarts and Indigo Buntings right there on the cottage property, and near the dock watched a Common Merganser swim by followed by 19 juveniles. Many evening dinners and late snacks were enjoyed on the deck with the lake breezes and summer skies. A great place to make family memories ... we can’t wait to go back next summer!
