The three bedrooms are all of good size; one has a king size bed, another one has a queen size bed and the third bedroom has two twin beds in it. An open kitchen and dining/living room area with large windows overlooking the sparkles on the water will leave you breathless!

A great waterfront home in a great location!

house rental amenities

Take a short stroll north along the beach to the Raftshol Vineyard's Wine Tasting Room, mention Chris sent you, and the first bottle is on me!  While you are there, sample their many flavorful award winning vintages.

Need to stay plugged-in while on vacation?  Use our free Wi-Fi internet access.

Have a boat?  Tie up to our secure mooring, and use our dock and canoe for access.  Of course, the canoe is also available for guests without a boat!  We also provide a kayak and an offshore swim raft.

Very secluded and private location - the north side of the property is adjacent to wooded undeveloped farm property.  The house is about 150 heavily wooded yards east of M-22 - creating a pleasant and welcome buffer from the road (which is not visible from the house).  The property is on the water and has direct access to the waterfront - no roads or other barriers to cross.  The beach is 17 stair steps below the house/deck.  As you stroll the beach, watch for the bald eagle nests in the treetops along the shoreline.

Beach conditions: The beach features a newly installed 65' x 20' sand area that provides plenty of room to relax and enjoy the waterfront.  In other areas along the 232 feet of frontage, the sandiness/rockiness of the beach varies from year to year, depending on the water level, winter ice and storms, etc.  It is typically a mixture of smooth pebbles and sand.  The beach also has a nice fire pit with a large sitting log, and plenty of firewood for your summer bonfire parties!

Located next to a vineyard, and just 2.5 miles north of Suttons Bay, this charming home has so much to offer and couldn't have a better location.  Aside from the 28 vineyards in Leelanau County, this home is only a few miles from the Leelanau Sands Casino, and close to local farm markets, shopping, dining, art galleries and all of the many other attractions of the picturesque Leelanau peninsula.

The area hosts many activities; including the Cherry Festival and other local festivals, arts and crafts shows, concerts in the park, casinos, wineries, the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes (a must), performances at the Interlochen Arts Academy and the Opera House; you're certain to stay as busy or as relaxed as you want to be.

Enjoy fishing charter boats, catamaran sunset cruises, parasailing (for those who are brave), jet-ski rentals, hot-air balloon rides, our local markets, cherry picking (and other fruits depending upon the season), and hiking trails.

The location and setting are the best part of the property. It is very secluded with trees on both sides. We did see the bald eagle on our beach and along the shoreline throughout the week. It was nice to have the canoe and kayak, The beach is very nice and it was nice to have the fire pit at night. The view from the deck and the beach are so beautiful, we spent every morning on the deck drinking coffee and enjoying the view. The house is fine, decor and furniture outdated and some stains on the carpet, but not bad, Negatives are no air conditioning, so the first night we were extremely hot, even with all of the fans. The other negative which did not ruin the week but definitely made it less enjoyable, were the constant bug bites i received each night when i was sleeping. Each morning when I woke up I had more and more bites, by the end of the week i had over thirty very itch bites on my arms and legs, the pharmacist confirmed bug bites of some kind but could not verify what type. The first night after being home i finally woke up with no new bites, The owner was great to work with but i would not stay again because of the bug bites.

Owners response: I have never had any complaints of bug bites from any other guests, either before or after Lori's stay. Curiously, Lori's husband did not get any "bug bites," even though he was sleeping right next to her. I am guessing that she was extremely sensitive to something, possibly the laundry detergent or the fabric softener. As a precaution, all bedding and blankets were thoroughly cleaned after their stay.

Chris,
I just wanted to say how much we all enjoyed the 'cabin'. It exceeded my expectations! I was very pleased at the contents provided. I have a week at a time share and your house certainly was as nice.

I know that you are in contact with Doug, but I just wanted to let you know my thoughts as well.

Hi Chris:

Despite 4 days of rain of varying intensity, we had a great time! Swam, snorkeled, used the canoe and kayak, walked the beach, saw loons, swans, and played lots and lots of games!! We also saw 4-5 rainbows (including some doubles!) when the sun broke through! The heat and humidity we had been experiencing in Michigan broke Thursday night and we enjoyed the heat in the house as the temps dropped into the 40's.

We especially liked: The easy access to SB, the view, the quiet, the privacy ("Look - other people!" the kids said when a (rare) other group of kayaks appeared), the canoe, kayak, fire pit (only one dry night for a fire on Sunday night - but a great, starry night!) and exploring the waterfront. The water was warm and clear, the beds were comfy, the bathrooms were clean and worked well and the kitchen was nicely appointed with dishes, cooking equipment, and the basic spices, oil, etc.

Anyway, thank you again for letting us use your cottage!

Jean F.
