Vacation Rental Description

Akumal is only one hour south of Cancun, but it feels like a world away. Very low key in every way,  
one feels like Akumal was made just for them and a few other people. Although Akumal is thriving  
with fabulous diving, snorkeling, shopping and eating, and has incredible white beaches, it does not  
have the hustle and urgency of Cancun. Another interesting fact is that the sand never gets hot. Our  
condominium is very special to us. We have owned it for ten years but we have not rented until 2008.  
We have had many wonderful evenings sitting on our patio watching the moon rise and listening to the  
waves breaking just below us. I mention the moon because it is honestly spectacular from our balcony  
in the evenings. You feel as though you could almost reach out and touch it. FOR EVERY REFERRAL YOU

Activities and Attractions

Akumal has it all, if you decide to spend your entire time here.  Snorkeling and diving are very  
popular.  Collecting coral and shells from the beach is my favorite past time.  Akuml is full of  
wonderful reataurants and little shops that are all within walking distance of the condo.  The  
Ecological Center has lectures and many interesting thigs to see and do.  You can learn about our  
famous sea turtles here.  If you like spas, we have a couple in Akumal.  They are reasonable. 
 
Deep sea fishing, paddle boating, spelunking, bird watching, hiking, and jet skiing are just a few  
of the fun things to do in and around Akumal. 
 
Fifteen minutes South, you will find Tulum.  I love Tulum.  The restaurants are very, very good and  
the shopping is great fun.  The bank is here where we exchange our dollars for pecos. 
 
 Sightseeing is endless. You can take day trips to Tulum or Coba, or you can stay overnight at  
Chitze Itza or Merida. We recommend them all. There is an endless list of possible activities for  
you to enjoy in and around Akumal and all through the Mayan Riviera. There are PGA golf courses and  
world class diving spots. The fresh water cenotes are just beautiful and very refreshing. I have  
snorkeled many with our children. I prefer to have a guide direct us when we go the cenotes.  
 
I love to walk the beach from in front of our apartment and then to the right. It is not completely  
sandy. It is covered with thousands of pieces of washed-up coral and small shells. I collect the  
most striking pieces of coral that I find. I have so many now, I can be very choosy. I will sit for  
hours there and just commune with the sea and nature. I am usually totally alone and for me, there  
is no other place where I feel so at one with the world.
