This one-story three bedroom, three bathroom home is more than it appears. Getting to it, you drive
through the main part of town, and turn into a quiet residential area full of single family homes in
a historic district of Taos. The other homes in the neighborhood are beautifully landscaped.
Walking through the front door, you enter a foyer with a closet that can hold your coat. You turn
right and find yourself in a cozy living room with the seating area focused upon a lovely adobe
fireplace. A skylight adds natural light to the room, and there is a stereo system compatible with
Mp3 players. The room is decorated with local art by Taos artists.
Walking through the room, you'll find a doorway on the left that leads to the bedrooms. The master
bedroom, with a queen sized bed and a private patio features a private bath and ample closet space.
The other two bedrooms, one with a king sized bed and the other with a queen, share a large bath,
complete with jacuzzi tub, in the hallway. All of the bedrooms feature exposed vigas on the
ceilings and artwork from various parts of the US.
Back into the living room, there are two doorways on either side of the fireplace that lead to the
long dining room. The centerpiece of the room is a massive dining room table that was custom made by
local artisan Robert Lavadie. The table seats 14 people comfortably, and massive picture windows and
French Doors look upon the breathtaking portal and patio outside.
The portal and patio are the central feature of the nearly acre fenced back yard which is great for
kids and dogs. An acequia, which is the New Mexican method of irrigation, flows through the yard,
past the towering cottonwoods. The backyard also features a bocce court to the left of the patio.
Apple trees scattered throughout the yard bare fruit, and foliage abounds. The patio and portal
area is massive. Built in banquettes line the edge of the house in the shaded portal area, and there
is seating around a round table. Further, the patio offers more seating, and there is a large gas
barbecue grill that can accommodate most outdoor cooking. There is also a kiva fireplace in one
corner which allows for use of the patio year-round. Off to the side, there is a large hot tub that
is perfect for cold winter days and evenings.
The kitchen, which is past the dining room, is large and features a commercial gas range and plenty
of counter space. It is fully equipped and stocked with cookware, baking ware, serving pieces, and
cutlery. The refrigerator is ample, and the microwave and toaster are conveniently located.
Off the kitchen, there is a den area, complete with a comfortable queen-size sleep sofa and seating.
A flat panel television, with cable and DVD player is available in this room, though it may also
serve as an additional sleeping area.
The mud-room has a washer and dryer, and leads to the basement, which is fully furnished with five
single beds and a full bathroom, It is a great area for kids.
