Vacation Rental Description

Our house used to be a boarding house for the aging Chinese gentlemen of Locke.  We have converted  
it into a dulplex.  This rear apartment is quiet and unique.  The porch is roomy yet cozy and  
overlooks the flower garden.  The apartment is airy and light with 14ft. ceilings and a large lofted  
area for sleeping and reading or creativity.  Full, eat in kitchen with everything you need. Friends  
have described it as romantic. Experience this unusual historic town.  An artist's retreat, a  
photographer's dream and a nature lover's paradise.  Feel the cool Delta breezes in the summer  
evenings.  Be warmed by the corn burning stove in the winter. 
 
Feel free to enjoy what ever is growing in our vegetable garden. Visit our gift shops, museums and  
galleries.  We have an excellent Chinese restaurant-Locke Garden and there is always Al's Place (aka  
Al the Wop's)steak house and pub. Walk to the back of town to the Delta Meadows River Park.  This  
California State Park has a boat launch.  Canoe or kayak in the quiet Snodgrass Slough.  
Birdwatching. Take a short walk to historic Walnut Grove.   
Public dock in Walnut Grove also.  The Delta is also a flyway for the Sandhill Crane in the fall and  
winter.  Come see these majestic birds as the sun sets. 
 
Step into Locke and you will feel you have come to a place that is frozen in time.  Walk into our  
house and you will feel at home.

Activities and Attractions

Visit the historic landmark of Locke.  Locke is located just  
off I-5, 25 miles south of Sacramento in the California Delta.  The Delta is noted for great water  
skiing, fishing, bird watching and walking.  The town is on the Sacramento  
River and a half mile from the Mokelumne River.  Enjoy the beautiful  
Delta Meadows River Park right behind Locke.  Delta Meadows gives a glimpse into a Delta of 150  
years ago with sloughs, a natural island, and meadows full of wildlife such as black-tailed deer.  
The park has a boat launch.
