We enjoyed a wonderful week in Palm Desert. Sunny, warm and dry! Ohio is having its wettest April on record.

Your condo was very comfortable, with a particularly well-equipped kitchen, and the large patio was a great feature. We grilled and dined outside for several suppers. Eric added air to the bicycle tires and we rode throughout the resort one evening. We biked or walked to the clubhouse for the morning’s newspaper, and lingered over breakfasts back on the condo patio. We cooled off in the pool and warmed up again in the hot tub almost every afternoon after hiking and golf.

I found the date groves and Oasis Date Gardens in Thermal to the south, then continued on to the Salton Sea. Another day we headed north to the Hadley Orchards store at Cabazon, discovering the extensive windmill site along the way. We all spent a day at Joshua Tree National Park, and part of another day at the Aerial Tramway, hiking trails at the top. We found a knowledgeable park attendant at Coachella Valley Preserve to answer our questions about the geography, flora and fauna, and enjoyed the trail through the palm oasis at Thousand Palms and McCallum Pond. The hike up through Andreas Canyon (Indian Canyons), following the creek with its cascading waterfalls, was particularly scenic. The desert blooms beautifully in the spring.
