Cozy property, good location with easy access to the ocean by boat and a very close marina. The patio deck and tikihut are good for gatherings. The house was very clean and the owner provided excellent communication. I will definitely recommend this house. It's on mile marker 28 which is close from Key West and it also have a close by shopping plaza with supermarket, pharmacies and a near by healthfood store. We are already planning for nets year.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet-friendly, sight seeing, romantic getaway

March 2011 rental

This is a lovely rental and the location is fabulous. There are a few household issues but very manageable.
However, like the previous reviewer the deposit has not yet been returned. It is now more than 60 days from the date listed in the contract for having it returned. After saying the house was in good order and the check would be coming, there were multiple delays due to "lost mail". When pressed for the deposit, the owner claimed we damaged the property and hasn't responded to further correspondence. Will update this review when this is resolved. So renter beware.

Property OK, needs repairs, deposit not returned

The property was ok. The location was great - close to Big Pine Key for shopping/dining, short drive to Bahia Honda beach and close enough to Key West for nightlife and actvities. The property is generally nice and on a quiet street. The kitchen was in very good shape with new appliances and materials. The furnishings throughout were in very good shape and of nice quality.

There were several areas that needed repairs, for example: several of the windows don't stay up - noticed this in the kitchen and the child bedroom. They are very heavy to open and close quickly (very dangerous) and several of the boards on the deck are loose or warped and we tripped over them constantly. During my stay the DirecTV worked fine, but internet (which is not wireless if wondering) was limited to an old computer upstairs and was slow.

My biggest concern was in getting back my deposit from the owner. It was 60 days after the rental until I received it. This is despite the lease saying owner had 15 days to return it or notify of problems. The owner had delayed in e-mails saying he needed to go examine the property and that he was trying to save money by not using a management company or cleaning service. During the 60 days, he refused to return the deposit. Shortly after posting an initial review here and contacting county authorities, I received my deposit. I was obviously concerned about my deposit and that the process was not was agreed to in the lease.

There are a lot of options in the Keys and based on my experience here, I would make sure to use a professional management company.
