vacation rental description

The Japanese House is in the heart of Big Sur, close to fine restaurants but also natures hiking
trails.

This Home is light, bright and airy, giving one a view of the forest. It is located on Sycamore
canyon road, which is the road to Pfeiffer State Beach, an approximate 15 minute walk from the
house.

The house has a stone fireplace, decks off the Living room and Master. Master is generously sized
with a queen bed. Bath has extra long and deep tub. 2nd bedroom has a double sized bed. The house
has a VCR, but no television reception. Patio is great for dining or lounging.

In the 1940's a forest ranger found the most sunny location in the canyon and built upon this spot.

vacation rental rates

The rate is 275 dollars a night with a two night minimum.
The rate is l650 a week. These are the winter rates.
To reserve a date, one night deposit is necessary.
Full refund, 3 weeks in advance.
Pets may be possible, need to discuss with the owner.

Great Location and pet friendly

My sister, myself, and my two dogs stayed here for a week for a photography workshop the first week of June. Its a nice location. Right in the middle of Big Sur and only an easy beautiful 30 minute drive to Carmel. I was happy to find a place for almost the same price as hotels that I can have my dogs with me. The road is a little tricky to get to but I found it with GPS. The house is a good size for small families or a couple of friends. Just an FYI your cell phones will not work in this area. There is a large dirt parking area right before the turn off and you get exellent phone service there. There is a land line phone in the house but no number was left to give out for people to call you back. Thank goodness for caller id. My only major complaint is that there was not a microwave and that we couldn't use a barbecue outside. Other than that its a great little house and the location is perfect for Big Sur. Its also a great option if you have pets. If you have a small vehicle the driveway to the house is a little tricky as well and a bit steep to get to. It rained a few days when we were there and even with my truck I slid going down the driveway which is a bit narrow and steep. Its fine when its dry. There is a nice little creek behind the house which makes lovely sound at night. There is a state beach at the end of the road where this is located as well. My only other suggestion is to have updated area info and a few area books available in the house to help plan daily activities.

Get groceries at the Safeway if you are driving in from Carmel which is only 25 minutes or so away. Also gas up there as well. Gas is outrageous on Highway 1. Make sure to visit Point Lobos several times. Carry some cash as these little state parks only take cash and its $5-10 for entry fees but they are only good for one day so visit several.

The owner responded quickly to emails. The house is rustic but clean when we arrived. No cable but there is a tv and some dvds. Had a great time.

was no longer on the phone. There is a
large pile of books on the area and have
moved them to a more visually accessible
place. The driveway was graded right
before your arrival which made it a little
too smooth during the rain. A big rain
at the end of May was unusual. A
barbecue in a canyon with altering
wind drafts is too dangerous. Big Sur had
a big fire 4 years ago and it humbled us
all. We are now extra careful,we have
a volunteer fire Dept .
