Playa del Coco is still a fishing village and is slowly being discovered by folks looking for an
authentic Costa Rican experience.
The Las Palmas/Mapache community is located 24 miles from the International Airport in Libera
(LIR). It is a gated, guarded, self contained community with it's own Italian restaurant, Ice-Cream
Parlor, Spa/Salon and Grocery store. Drinking water in the community is on a new system with water
piped in from 7 springs tapped in Sardinal (water quality is excellent).
English is spoken widespread throughout the area although the ability to speak Spanish is respected
by the local folks.
All normal amenities are located nearby (7 minute walk by street or 15 minutes along the beach!) in
the town of Coco and its small village setting. A full service grocery store, pharmacy, doctors
offices, law offices, statewide bus and taxi stand, police department, and all of the fine
restaurants and village shopping venues can be found within a short walk.
Entertainment, bars, a casino and numerous restaurants are also locally available.
Local festivals, fairs and equestrian events occur year 'round and will expose a visitor to a real
taste of the Costa Rica experience.
This complex is about a 2 minute walk from the beach. The beach itself surrounds the fishing boat
harbor and is a grey volcanic sand beach.
Saltwater fishing, superb snorkeling, nearby surfing, indigenous wildlife, rain forest tours,
national parks, whitewater rafting, shopping, and beaches and beaches and beaches are the
attractions that entice visitors to keep coming back to this delightful, friendly country!
And, for the more adventureous visitor, guided tours to Nicaragua or Panama are available.
Rental cars are recommended and the road system is very good finally. Costa Rica also has an
excellent bus system. Cabs are available locally.

stroll into Coco and getting a fresh squeezed glass of orange juice and grabbing breakfast at one of
the local cafe's....then putting the day's game plan into place to go touring, and come back to the
town in the late afternoon and grabbing some fresh fish or local delicacies to roast on the grill
back at the condo, go for a swim in the pool....and then deciding which club, casino, or beachwalk
