enjoy incredible sunrises or the colorful and spectacular sunsets and
a breezy day with an exceptional view of the sea.
Enjoy the view of the horizon in the movement of ships and cruise
ships that dock at the largest pier of Mexico, or watch pelicans,
albatrosses, gulls and other birds such as pink flamingos go flying
all day a few meters away from you; just walk 20 meters on the white
sand beach and dive into the warm waters of its mild and short deep
sea or take sun while drinking a cold beer resting by the pool.

You can go walking along the seashore while you pick up seashells only

dinner, with a variety of meals that range from regional and
international food, fresh fish and seafood. Have a cappuccino, a cold
beer, a margarita or many other beverages in some of the cafes, bars
or nightclubs that are on this avenue of more than 10 blocks facing
the sea.

Some days bananas, jet skis, sailing boats, windsurfing and kayaks,
and boat rides are available at the beach club at the beginning of the
pier.
Or if you like fishing it can be arranged with some local fishermen
or the sea port.
Progreso also has two large supermarkets and a newly built municipal
market where you will find local products and handicrafts.
There are also churches and temples of various religions.
A small mall with movie theaters, banks, Internet cafes, post office
and telegraph service, money exchange , pharmacies and convenience
stores open 24 hours, clinics and hospitals, dental service of good
quality at reasonable prices, bus and taxi service which leave for
Merida every 15 minutes. Car and bike rental to stroll through the port.

Just 30 minutes away, through an 8-lane highway is Merida, the capital
of the state of Yucatan, where you can admire the historic mansions of
European type in their legendary “Paseo de Montejo” a beautiful avenue
of colonial architecture in its historic center.
You will find large malls, restaurants such as Boston’s, Bennigans,
Domino’s pizza, Burger King, McDonald’s KFC, Carl’s Junior etc.
There are casinos, discos, bars and places of entertainment. Cultural
events are held at the Main Square throughout the week.
Halfway to Merida, there are two big Golf clubs: Country Club and La
Ceiba. . Mayan culture is present throughout the Yucatan. The Mayan
city of Dzibilchaltún with pre-Hispanic archaeological ruins is very
close to Country Club.
There are several haciendas that you can visit or if you wish you can
spend stay overnight.
Chichen Itza, one of the 7 wonders of the world is a place you should
visit if you like mayan ruins. Light and Sound in English is
available; The ruins of Uxmal are smaller but worthwhile visiting and
there is also Light and Sound at night. venture to travel the Puuc
route and its Mayan cities or colonial towns.
Yucatán has several convents and is also an eco-tourism destination,
explore mangroves and estuaries just 10 minutes away from the beach
apartment.
Discover its unique rain forest, its flora and fauna, caves and
underground rivers (cenotes).
15 minutes from here is Uaymitún one of the shrines of the pink
flamingo which has a considerable population of these birds throughout
the year.
