I had the opportunity to stay with Fred and Heike Katrina for 3 weeks
in their Orlando rental unit in January/February of 2008. I needed
temporary housing as part of a job relocation. I explored extended-
stay hotels and short-term apartments, but they were either too
expensive, too shabby, or very institutional feeling.

There are really too many good things to list--first of all, it's in
a nice, quiet residential area, away from commercial areas. It is a
very private unit, with a wonderful pool and patio right outside the
door. While it is only about as big as an average hotel room, the
furnishings etc. are of a much higher quality, and very homey
feeling. It features nice wood flooring, very comfortable bedding,
a HUGE shower, and plenty of storage. The kitchenette is great for
light meals.

There is a dedicated parking space, a locked security gate (that
you'll have your own key to), and it's very convenient to the
Airport (5-10 min) and the Florida Mall (about the same).

If you're looking for more of a home-stay type of accommodation,
this is the place.

My husband and I travel for a living, so we've stayed in our share
of hotels, efficiencies and guest houses. The truth is, you never
really know what you're going to get! I felt led to write this
review because I enjoyed my stay at this particular guest home just
that much. It's a small efficiency, but they've gone to great
lengths to give you just about everything you could need for a
comfortable week stay in a very organized and super-clean
environment. The apartment is sunny--literally and figuratively and
they have done well with the space. There was more than enough
closet space for my husband and I to get our bags and our clothing
out of sight and the bathroom, equipped with two sinks (one for
dishes and one for bathroom needs--genius) was a decent size for two
people to maneuver-about and to share. The kitchen area is minimal--
it did have a nice dual hot plate and plenty of dishes along with a
coffee maker and coffee accessories. The mini fridge was great (and
the freezer section on top actually worked!). There was also a
large toaster oven that we used frequently for toast before going
off in the morning. The location is fantastic because it is central
to anything that you might need. We worked in the downtown area and
it was a quick 15 minute drive there, but we were also 15 minutes
from any of the resorts, five minutes from the Florida Mall and 10
from Whole Foods. It is also really close to the airport, which is
fantastic. The backyard is absolutely lovely and we would have used
it often in the summertime as the pool was very clean and there is a
screened-in porch for reading and the like. I also felt extremely
secure in the nice neighborhood; they have a great lock on the back
fence to aid in that department as well. Best of all, it's quiet:
We heard nothing, save the occasional distant train. It may sound
like the owner's wrote this review, but like I said, when something
is good I want people to know about it--for your benefit as much as
for the benefit of the owners. Staying in this place made our stay
in Orlando very pleasant and I'm so glad that we found it.
