Walk to the Beach! in Pacific Beach

We have been staying at this home since the beginning of September while my husband does his residency....we love it and want to stay forever! Highly recommend for a vacation or longer term rental. It is only a block or so to the beaches...perfect for an early morning exercise jaunt or evening stroll to watch the sunset. Great restaurants within walking distance and you can ride your bike about anywhere....easy access to the boardwalk. It is far enough away from the bars/restaurants on Garnet to be quiet...but close enough to enjoy. The kitchen has been remodeled (pictures are outdated) and looks great...house has unbelievable landscaping and both the front and back yards can be enjoyed. The house is very comfortable and has everything you might need...including beach chairs and a gas grill! There is a cozy fireplace for the cooler nights and the kitchen is stocked for any basic cooking needs you might have. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT...the best part of the place is the landlord...in this day and age you can't say that very often...but he is extremely attentive and really cares about his properties and his tenants. Come....you'll love it!

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, pet-friendly, sight seeing, tourists without a car

Very Cute and charming

Pros: for one - two people... awesome size. Great location. Nice wood floors, good size kitchen. Wonderful front yard... I left the front door open for the sunshine. For the price/value- can't be beat.

Cons: Kitchen has a musty smell (old cupboards). Bathroom VERY small. The king bed mattress is actually lower on one side than the other (it's just an old mattress). Just a tad too far to walk to all the shops/bars. I brought my bike.

I'd definitely stay again. It's not high end but just an awesome place if you're going to be hitting the beach the whole time anyway.

I stayed at 824 Sapphire for a little over a week in December 2009. I used to live in the area, and understand it to be one of the best neighborhoods in San Diego. Its only a few blocks from the beach, and surrounded by great restaurants, bars, cafes, coffee shops. Even though the listing is Pacific Beach, its closer to La Jolla/Wind and Sea. The neighborhood is quiet, and the beach is uncrowded and more surfer and family friendly.

The house itself was great. Nice and clean, warm working fireplace, parking for at least 2 cars. Cable tv and internet worked great, although most of my time was spent doing other things. The beds were comfortable, especially the new king bed in the master bedroom.

One of the greatest parts of the house was the back patio. There's a grill and outdoor dining/seating for 6. It was a wonderful spot to hang out, grill, and spend time with friends.

Management was professional, friendly, and very responsive to the few minor requests during my stay.

I visit San Diego often, and will definitely stay at 824 Sapphire again.
