just as tough!
Hi Don & Karen,
Returned home yesterday from 'The Shores' to a chilly London @ 30 F
(minus 1 C).
What a shock to the system having enjoyed a Floridian 85 F for
virtually our entire stay, and what a wonderful stay it was in your
lovely condo which is probably the best that we've had in our 25 odd
years of visiting the USA..
If you will have us, all remains OK and God willing, we look forward
to returning about the same time next year.
Thanks again and wishing you both a happy Thanksgiving holiday.
Regards,
Alan & Theresa Mead
London, England
Fort Myers Beach: Welcome to the beautiful barrier islands of Fort
Myers Beach-Estero Island and San Carlos Island  where the sun
shines nearly every day and the average temperature is 74 degrees.
Beaches are probably the No.1 attraction, with the turquoise blue to
bright green waters of the Gulf of Mexico lapping at the silky,
white sands and seashells  for the collector in everyone. Called
the worlds safest beach, its an ideal site for family vacations,
for there are no steep drop-offs, riptides or undertows.
Everywhere you go, wildlife is abundant. Shore birds such as
egrets, pelicans, spoonbills, seagulls and herons are found near every
body of water, from the gulf to the back bay. Sometimes, even the
bald eagle can be spotted soaring over our islands. Fishing and
boating are popular pastimes for residents and visitors alike
there are even restaurants you can get to by boat for lunch on (or
near) the high seas. Yes, the comforts of civilization are evident
as well. The multitude of fine restaurants provide palate-tempting
menus for every meal of the day.
Fine shops with their unique souvenirs, gifts and apparel offer
delights for every taste and budget  and all are staffed with
friendly, enthusiastic help ready to answer your queries.

full length of the island to the fishing pier and Times Square Town
Center. Fort Myers Beach occupies all of what is known as Estero
Island, just 10 miles from both downtown Fort Myers and the
Southwest
Florida International Airport. The island's south side faces the
Gulf
of Mexico and has miles of beaches. However, the best beach in the
area is on Lover's Key in the state park on the island. This is an
excellent place if you are at all interested in nature as there are
many birds living in the mangrove forests here. This also happens to
be a great spot for shelling. The Estero Bay side of the island is
best viewed by boat or kayak, either of which may be rented in the
area. There are many uninhabited keys within the bay that play host
to hundreds of different species of birds, plants and mammals. If
you
are interested in fishing you can simply cast a line from the piers
and docks here in Fort Myers Beach or you can arrange a charter
fishing guide to help you land the big one. If you are interested in
seeing the coastline a bit more some popular day trips include
Sanibel and Captiva Islands to the north or Naples to the south. The
shopping and dining scene on Fort Myers Beach is excellent. There
are
many shopping plazas along the island from Times Square in the north
to Lover's Key in the south. And after a busy day enjoying Estero
Island you can watch the sunset in the western sky from your own
vacation home in Fort Myers Beach.
