vacation rental description
Nellie's Nest is named after the previous owner & long time Bokeelia creative personality, Miss Nellie. Now owned by her nephew, this home is cozy, well loved and beautifully remodeled. Reminders of Miss Nellie exist in her original art work, lush gardens, and historic memorabilia.
Located on the northern tip of Pine Island, it is a mere 5 minutes to open water. The home is on a quiet, dead end street with water on both sides of the road, and is 2 streets away from the public boat ramp. Pine Island has a 15 mile long public bike path which runs the full length of the island but the real focus of this quiet fishing village is gorgeous Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico, and fantastic fishing for all ages. Cayo Costa State Park can be reached by private boat or ferry. Boca Grande Pass is the location of annual tarpon tournaments every June and is a brief 20 minute run by boat. You have to drive through Matlacha to get to Bokeelia so you already noticed all the art galleries and restaurants (including Great Licks with home made ice cream!). Sit by your dock and watch the mullet jump in the canal while the egrets, herons, bald eagles and osprey go fishing!
