Welcome to your vacation paradise! Our unique mini-villa home is located in La
Ceiba/Merida--one of the most exclusive residential areas in Merida.
We are easy to access, just off
the Merida-Progresso
highway, 10 minutes from the historic Merida Colonial Centro and
10 minutes from the beautiful, sandy beaches of the Gulf of
Mexico's
Emerald Coast.
We are very private--almost a mini-villa--located on a large lot, backing onto the 18-hole, par 72, Club
de Golf de Yucatan. The house has a large master bedroom with ensuite;
two additional bedrooms with shared bath; spacious living and dining
room; a den/office; large kitchen with island; and a separate laundry/storage space.
But what makes our home truly unique is that it is built in the
traditional Spanish-hacienda style, with a large inviting pool
filling the central courtyard. We are surrounded by lush, tropical
gardens and large trees offering plenty of privacy. There are many
shady nooks tucked away throughout the property, which was designed on
ecologically sustainable
principles. The gardens feature landscaped seating arrangements and
hand-woven authentic Mayan
hammocks (both single and double)
for quiet lounging or afternoon siestas. The natural
freshness and tranquility is hard to beat.
Best of all is the quality of life in La Ceiba, where your children
(and you) can ride bikes or stroll throughout the self-contained
community in complete safety. Golf
carts and bicycles are available for rent at the country club to roam
the palm tree-lined lanes, discovering the many exotic
flowers, fruits, plants, and birds
the Yucatan is known for.
Do your bargaining and shopping in the Merida marketplace alongside
the friendly local residents.
Or, if you're missing the convenience of box-stores back home, don't
worry, Costco, Wal-Mart, Home Depot are all here. Not to mention
large malls with recognizable retailers, as well as Cineplex movie
theaters. You are ideally
located, just 5 minutes from Merida's modern air-conditioned
malls like Gran Plaza and Liverpool...and 5 more minutes to Centro. In the other direction, you're a mere 10 minutes to the Emerald Coast and a day at the beach!

Emerald Coast/Progresso?you?ll want to make time for the beach! The
Yucatá® Pení®³ula has 360 kilometers of coastline. A short ride from our
home, the Port of Progresso welcomes visitors with a warmth that
characterizes the people of the Yucatan. The malecon, or beach walk,
invites visitors to relax and enjoy the view from one of the many
restaurants and bars that line the walk. Laze in the sun and take a
refreshing dip in the warm gulf waters. Your drive to Progresso?along
a modern highway?will get you there in 10 minutes?there?s no need for
the expense of additional seaside accommodations.
Centro/Merida--prepare to be delighted and enchanted by your route
into the heart of Merida. The Paseo de Montejo?a 5-km boulevard
fashioned after Paris? Champs Elys饠traverses the length of the
city, meandering past palatial mansions all on the way to the
Merida Centro. Once there, take in the beautiful architecture,
cathedrals, museums, and art galleries of this 16th century World
Heritage
Site. Starte with the Plaza Grande or Main Square--the central point
for all walking
tours. Don?t forget to visit the bustle of the central market, and
plan to enjoy the large

both sites within an hour?s drive. Explore the surrounding countryside
to discover flamingo and wildlife sanctuaries, mangroves, historic
towns, old-world haciendas/spas, and much more. If the
Mayan Riviera beckons, we are only three hours from Cancun, along an
express four-lane highway. Plan a day-trip or weekend to the Caribbean
Coast to enjoy scuba-diving or snorkeling in the 2nd largest coral
reef formation in the world.
Cenotes--Yucatan life would not be the same without Cenotes. These
underground clear-water caves invite you to submerge in their cooling
and mineral-healing depths. The water that flows into these
subterranean, naturally-fed caverns
is a crystal clear turquoise color with a pleasant temperature
of 78?. The stalactites and stalagmites that form inside the cenotes
are true natural works of art. Sunlight often filters into these
amazing
caverns, giving the entire scene a mystical aura. The cenotes of the
Yucatan are a natural treasure that should be seen by all. You will
not want to miss swimming,
snorkeling and/or scuba-diving in the
numerous cenotes within a short drive of our home.
