Great place for a relaxing weekend

We had a great family weekend in this home for Easter weekend. It was large enough to accommodate our three families and small dogs. The hot tub was wonderful and was enjoyed immensely! We will hopefully be back to check it out in the summertime when we can use the lake as well.

Two things to watch out for 1) we could not get the wi-fi to work and 2) the hill down to the steps with the thaw/refreezing were tricky. I would recommend a handrail and/or extend the steps to the top of the hill.

All in all, it was a restful weekend and we will be back.

So-so stay. Spent 4 hrs shoveling snow ourselves!!

The owner, Mitch (or one of them, as I believe there are many), was very helpful to work with prior to our reservation. All questions were answered promptly and courteously. We were notified of the stair situation going down to the house and to the lake, and that wasn't an issue.

What was an issue was the fact that we received 15 inches of snow on the night of our arrival. A member of our party was stuck en route to the house (6 months pregnant mind you), and one of the users of the property seemed more interested in hooking the snowmobile trailer to his Jeep, than helping--even though he said he saw her "down the road a ways". Classy. Caretaker Dan was able to be reached, and he called AAA for her, since the house phone cannot call any number but locals, and cell service was impossible (at least for the AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile phones that we had amongst us).

The following morning, we spent 4 hours shoveling out OURSELVES. No one came to help or check up on us, even though some of the caretakers were staying in a neighboring cabin and snowmobiling. When we called to ask for more salt, it was delivered by a man on a snowmobile, who told one of the shovelers to "have fun shoveling". Even though the entire party was women, I don't think they could have gotten out if some of the younger people hadn't been willing to dig them out of the situation. Caretaker Dan came to plow out the driveway about 4:30 pm. There would have been no way we could have gotten out of the house and into town if we had wanted to. Thank God there wasn't an emergency.

The hot tub was half full upon arrival, and under 100 degrees. If you sat in it, the water might come up 3-4 inches above your waist--at most.

Also, upon searching for the DVD remote (which we found in the kitchen cupboard above the refrigerator), we found some less-than-pleasant DVD's that were being hidden for obvious reason. Gross.

I guess this group of girls learned their lesson when renting the "boys house"--or so it says on the garage. We felt like a mortgage payment to them and nothing more. They were more concerned with snowmobiling and having fun than taking care of, or checking on the safety and comfort of their guests.

Chivalry isn't quite dead in Gaylord, but it's awfully close.

great place to stay

Great week in Gaylord, the lake was very low, causing great concern for the fishermen in the family, but they still caught fish. This was a great property. Loved the hot tub and campfire at night.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet-friendly, romantic getaway
