Little Bit of Heaven

Review submitted: October 30, 2012   Date of arrival: September 26, 2012

I'm not sure where to start but this little cottage was everything it was supposed to be and more. The pictures really do not do it justice as pretty as they are. The beautiful antiques and cool ceiling fans put you in another time and place. Every morning my husband and I would sit on our patio before sunrise with our coffee and hear the owls and mullet jumping and smacking the water. Our host and hostess know everything about the area we were interested in. They are there whenever you needed them for anything. They even took us for a boat ride that I will never forget...We brought our two little dogs and we picked up after them always. They didn't ask us to do that but it is just common courtesy. They have orange trees and grapefruit trees and they should be about ready now...We felt more at home than on any other vacation we have been on. We will certainly be back. My husband and I are looking for a home to rent in Homosassa and they are still there to help us do this even though we are back home now with snow on the ground !!!!

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, girls getaway, pet-friendly, sight seeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway

Serenity in Nature

Review submitted: July 2, 2012   Date of arrival: June 30, 2012

This cottage was the most serene get-a-way that I have experienced. It is tucked in a quiet neighborhood right off US19 yet no sounds of the busy road could be heard. Very easy to find and great location for exploring the area.

Everything about the cottage is as stated. The couple are lovely people and provide information as needed but leave you alone. They have decorated this place beautifully!!! From the tranquil gardens to the beautiful antiques in the cottage, careful thought went into planning a wonderful place for relaxation and refreshment. I would state that it is much more suited to 2 people rather than 3.

We did not want to leave as we were so relaxed sitting by the water and viewing the wildlife. There are no neighbors across the canal so that it is woodsy and private. The water is so clear you can see the fish and apparently a family of otters live accross the way....they must have been too shy to let us see them. We did use the kayaks to paddle all around the area and that was such fun.Their canal opens onto a river where a bird sanctuary is and we did see several different kinds.

We came after the big storms and there were no problems at all....just our normal Florida mosquitoes, but they even had outdoor foggers to use. Again, every attention to detail has been taken care of. The owners gave us great suggestions and we chose The Freezer to eat shrimp....don't miss that!!! And we went to Hunter Springs for an afternoon and it was beautiful.

We stayed for 3 days, 2 nights but could easily have stayed a week here. There is so much history and fun things to see and do. Coming in on Sat., we stopped in at Howard's Flea Market....what a treat.Once we got to the cottage, we didn't leave until the next afternoon to go to the Springs. If you want peace and quiet yet be close to activities, this is the place to go. You will not be sorry.

Recommended for: age 55+, sight seeing, romantic getaway
