Free Breeze in Montserrat

Situated in a rain forest environment in the lush exclusive
Woodlands, Free Breeze is a unique vacation villa on the Caribbean
Isle of Montserrat. The villa is beautifully located less than a 10
minute walk to Woodlands beach and overlooks the Caribbean Sea on
almost an acre. Tropical gardens resplendent with banana groves, mango,
almond, avocado and coconut trees.

 Enjoy the colorful blooms and watch the local wildlife come out early in the morning and early evening. Panoramic sea views with full veranda porch surrounding the upper level. Two  futon beds can handle extra persons you might bring along. Photo #8 is a view from our veranda

We just wanted to let you both know what a wonderful time we had at Villa Free Breeze.  What a absolutely beautiful home you have with stunning views and in a perfect location.  Your home is well appointed and we wanted for nothing.  We have stayed extensively throughout the Caribbean and we have found Montserrat to be one of the safest and friendliest of them all.  It is one of the most unspoiled and beautiful islands that we have come across, too.   Also, this was one of the most relaxing and memorable vacations we have had in a long time.  Thank you so much for opening your home to us.  We look forward to returning next year.

Here is a list of some of our favorite things “on island”.
-Get up every morning and have a cup of coffee on your deck overlooking the ocean.-We would take the quick walk down to the black sand beach, which we had practically all to ourselves, every day.-The flowers and fruit trees on the property are beautiful...especially the fresh mangoes...they are everywhere!!!-The hiking on the island was unforgettable.  Well marked trails throughout the island with so much to see and we passed by no one.  We even saw the Montserrat Oriole, the national bird. -We decided to have dinner at the home often because the sunset views every night there were spectacular...we have over 100 pictures of them and the first night there we saw “the green flash”!-Rental car prices are reasonable so we drove around the island several times and were able to see the beauty of the entire island.  All of the beaches, the dramatic cliffs in the north that give it the name “Emerald Isle”, watching the volcano puffing smoke, roadside cookouts and limin’ with the locals.

Snorkeling, hiking, walking, private beaches, trails, Montserrat National
Trust, Montserrat Volcano Observatory, bird watching, wildlife, plenty
of things to do but mostly relax and have your own agenda. Be sure to
visit the volcano observatory where you will be able to see a live
volcano. Local restaurants will provide you with good food or your
favorite hamburger. Search the internet for Montserrat to find out
more. A quiet peaceful island with no hustle or bustle Montserrat is "a Caribbean treasure, spectacular by nature" and it is truly so. It has a rich history, and there are excellent local guides who will show you their island home including a visit to see the "modern day Pompeii" that was once the busy capital city of Plymouth. In 1995 the Soufriere Hills Volcano came to life and the city is now buried in ash. 

Each day will bring a new experience and adventure for visitors to enjoy. Explorers can participate in a variety of excursions that include: a guided kayak and snorkeling tour to Rendezvous Bay Beach, Montserrat’s only white-sand beach; island tour with a visit to the Montserrat Volcano Observatory for the chance to watch historic footage of the volcano’s eruption, as well as catch a glimpse of the waking mountain from the safest vantage point; a rainforest mountain hike that offers panoramic views of Montserrat and neighboring islands and a day trip to Redonda Island for more diving, hiking and snorkeling.

Additional activities include a Plymouth boat tour that provides scenic views of the island’s 13 miles of coastline, as well as an up-close and personal look at the destruction of the former capital city now submerged under ash and mud-flows, a trip back in time to explore the remains of the famed AIR Studios, where music greats including The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder once recorded and a stop at Runaway Ghaut, where folklore promises one sip from the ghaut will guarantee a return visit to the island. British Colony with British Governor General. AIR Studios back in the 80's, built by Sir George Martin, were a huge draw to some world famous musicians including Sir Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, The Police, The Rolling Stones, Elton John, to name but a few. The studios were moved to London, but Sir George and his wife maintained their home in Montserrat and with the support of many artists worked tirelessly to raise funds for the building of the cultural and community centre that was opened by HRH Prince of Wales and his wife in 2008.

There is something for everyone on Montserrat. Numerous hiking trails for all levels, and guides can be arranged. There are 33 species of birds to be 'spotted' and through August and September the Green Turtle, the Hawksbill, and the Loggerhead turtles come ashore to lay their eggs on the beach.

There are a number of excellent dive centres offering instruction and tours in the pristine waters around the island. Snorkeling may be your choice, and again tours and equipment rental if you require, are available, as are kayaks.

Many large game fish can be found in the local waters, charter boats and tours are available. Or you can join the locals along the shoreline and try your luck.

Bikes can be rented, horse riding is offered, and a very well respected resident photographer offers a number of courses a year.

The shimmering volcanic sandy beaches are usually deserted. There will be no one trying to sell you beads or tours! The people of Montserrat are the friendliest you will meet anywhere in the world. Always ready with a smile a wave and happy to share a joke. Crime is almost unheard of. The Emerald Isle of the Caribbean.

Getting There: Delta, US Air, Continental, and American Airlines all
fly to Antigua. Once you reach Antigua then you fly from Antigua to
Montserrat using WinAir Airlnes booking on their website or calling
their toll free number found on their website. You may also find info about thisservice by contacting Carib World Travel, wood centre in St. John.  Additionally, search the web and put in key words visit Montserrat. Additionally, Montserrat based , Monsterrat Airways, is available for private charters to the Island.

Villa Free Breeze- We require a minimum rental of one week (7 nights)for the villa, generally Saturday to Friday. You may however, requestalternate check in dates. Contact us to inquire about long-term
rentals or additional rental configurations. 

Monthly rates upstairs 2 adults US $2000  4 Adults US $2500 upstairs and downstairs based upon 30 days.

 NOTE: A US $350 security deposit is required.

2009 Weekly Rates: All year Long: *1-2 people Main House Living
Quarters US$700 plus 7% govt. tax.

1-2 people Apartment US$400 plus 7% govt. tax.

* Use of main house only. Downstairs apartment will remain unoccupiedduring your stay.

your telephone number. Upon receipt of your inquiry, we will hold the reservation for 14 days. The villa books up quickly so do follow up to make sure we received your request.

DEPOSIT: A deposit of 50% of the total amount of the rental is
