house rental amenities
Oak Haven is our 4000+ square foot two-story home nestled against a tropical hardwood hammock. We sometimes call it Casona Coqui for the rare Puerto Rican tree frogs that have mysteriously taken up residence in the woods, and who can be heard singing their unique “coqui” song on warm evenings.
The house features four bedrooms and four baths on a split plan. The Master Suite is upstairs, and a first floor bedroom wing has three bedrooms and two baths, one of which is shared between bedrooms. The Hammock Room has its own private bathroom. The foyer entryway through double doors leads under a large chandelier to the oak-floored living room featuring a spectacular wood-burning native keystone fireplace and eighteen foot ceilings. Oak
logs harvested from the backyard forest are available to warm those chilly winter evenings. Floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors overlook the hammock.
The oak floors extend into the formal dining room, which has comfortable seating for eight under an antique chandelier. The family room and kitchen together comprise a ceramic-tiled Great Room, fully equipped for all
types of cooking or baking. Sub-zero refrigerator, dishwasher, convection oven, and microwave, as well as numerous small appliances, are provided. The five-burner GE Profile gas cooktop faces the family room, built into a large island.
The family room includes a 56 inch HD TV with extended cable, surround sound, and DVD player. There is a dual reclining sofa, coffee and end tables, and a cheery breakfast nook overlooking the hammock and bird feeders. There is also an entertainment center stocked with movies, and a desk with computer and high-speed internet. Two sliding doors provide access to the covered wrap-around patio, which includes a Jacuzzi, teak patio furniture, and a deluxe gas grill. A small lawn allows for sunbathing, and a firepit is available for roasting marshmallows.
A cabana bath with tub and shower services this side of the house.
Up the curved oak staircase is a landing overlooking the living room, providing access to the master suite. The master suite boasts a king bed, entertainment center with surround sound, and a sitting area overlooking the hammock. The master bath features a 2-person jetted tub, marble shower
enclosure, vanity counter with twin sinks and mirrors, lighted makeup mirror, bidet, and a mini-bar with microwave and refrigerator. Off the bathroom is a large walk-in closet and dressing area. The master bed area is carpeted, and the bath area is marble tiled.
The entire house is wirelessly networked, and has high speed cable internet service. Oak Haven is also wired with a two-line Panasonic small business phone system, so intercomming and transferring calls between rooms is possible. US long-distance phone calls are free on one of the lines.
A large concrete driveway provides space for about eight automobiles when a motorhome is not parked on its pad. The motorhome pad has a 30-amp electrical service, as well as access to cable TV and water. The driveway is secured with an electric gate with remote opener,
For nature lovers, the interior of the oak hammock is made accessible by a wooden boardwalk leading past stately oaks, native ardisia, beautyberry, and wild coffee to a secret fern grotto, where birds and butterflies abound. Enjoy a quiet respite sitting on the grotto deck and forget you are less than
two miles from the Florida Turnpike!
On the front side of the house are anon (sugar apple) and coconut trees. Help yourself if they are ripe. Between the coconuts is a pergola with Adirondack chairs and a wood-burning Mexican chiminea.
