Come join us for a fun, laid-back, relaxing time... Nestled amidst neighbors in a century-old, pine grove cottage-ground, this updated cabin is a great getaway in the beautiful Monadnock region of southwestern New Hampshire. It has two bedrooms (one queen-size bed and two twins) plus a queen-size hide-a-bed; so it sleeps six persons (but 4 are optimal). Heat/AC. Kitchen, LR, DR, enclosed porch, full bath. Washer, dryer, dishwasher, TVs with VCR/DVD players and DVD library (but PLEASE NOTE: there is no TV reception of any kind), piano, a 17-foot canoe, and fishing tackle. Internet is dial-up only. The cottage has access to a shared sandy swim beach (about 100 yds. away) on one of the most pristine lakes in the state -- in a quiet, family-friendly locale. (The water is very shallow at the beach area, so little kids love to play there!) For a great Web site on the lake itself, search on Google for Laurel Lake Association. All in all, a cost-effective, fun way to de-stress at your own pace!
cottage rental amenities
There are many, many things to do in this area through using our cottage as a home base. If you get tired of going down to the beach or sitting around the campfire, you can head out for all sorts of outdoor activities, antiquing, sight-seeing, or shopping -- in sales tax-free New Hampshire. College 'town' Keene, NH (pop. 30,000), is 20 minutes away. Many parents and families find our cottage a great place to stay while delivering or picking up their Keene State College or Franklin Pierce University students, or coming for a visit to watch their athletic events or activities. We also have a number of overseas guests and guests from other parts of the country, who like our cottage because it is in a very quiet, safe, and secure area.
Sleeping six requires using a foldout queen bed on the enclosed porch. Some families sleep five by having a child "camp out" (fun!) on the living room couch (pretty big), which is right outside the MBR door. There is room in the middle of the LR or in the kids room for a (bring your own) playpen or crib.
activities and attractions in Fitzwilliam New Hampshire
We always try to discuss with our potential guests just what it is they want to do, how familiar they are with the area (if at all), what their special interests are, and so forth. We want you to have a good time, and we want to make sure that we are a good 'fit' for you. If we are not, we often can recommend someplace that is. We are just a regular New Hampshire family that has this cottage as its own second 'place,' so we want to be able to think of our guests as 'family,' too. Our neighbors in the cottageground are very warm and friendly, so our guests invariably meet new people and make new friends.

Beautiful, clean, well-maintained cabin by the lake. Well-equipped with gas cooker, fridge freezer, and hot tub. Kitchen diner, living room, porch, 2 bedrooms and two canoes and a kayak. Nearest town Fitzwilliam is 3 miles away so you need a car if you don't like walking, though the area round the lake is beautiful and well worth walks. Fitzwilliam is like an English village complete with village green that is keen to preserve its heritage. Only caveats; the entrance to the toilets is through one of bedrooms but there is a screen and be careful driving down the lane to it as the track can damage low cars. Bring some CD's as the television reception is awful. Better still tire youself out with walks and canoeing. We stayed in 2006 and booked it again in 2008 without hesitation
