activities and attractions in London England
Crouch End is one of London’s best kept secrets situated in North London on the edge of Zone two,
from which all the attractions of central London can be reached within around 30 minutes. The village
itself is teaming with coffee shops patisseries restaurants, antique and curiosity shops. It is home
to several well known writers, musicians and Film and TV actors.
The house itself is positioned towards Highgate which is less than one mile away – a beautiful 18th
century hilltop village which abuts the famous Hampstead Heath, with its fabulous walks and views
over London. Kenwood house in the Heath is 1.5 miles away with beautiful landscaped meadows, the
subject of Constable’s paintings. Enjoy Sunday brunch at Kenwood and visit the collection of 18th
century paintings. Walking on through the Heath will lead you to Hampstead village, about 2.5 miles
from the house. Hampstead Village is one of the Jewels in london’s crown teaming with life and
elegant shops restaurants and galleries in one of London’s truly most picaresque village settings
with quaint historic pubs along winding alley ways between 18th century cottages.
Back to Crouch End and within a few hundred yards there is Queens Woods, half a mile Highgate woods
and Alexandra palace. These historic woods have been preserved for centuries. In the middle of
Highgate woods is a great restaurant in a pavilion in a clearing serving quality fare in a dream
setting. Alexandra palace has knock out views over London and houses bi monthly commercial
exhibitions and an Ice skating Rink. There is a kids playground in a park and swimming and gyms
within a walk from the house.
More than anything you’ll be amongst the real Londoners – stop and chat and they’ll give you the time
of day, and where you’ll be living you’ll feel right at home with more than enough to do locally as
well as easy access to all that London has to offer and beyond into the South East region of England.
This house was formerly the home of author Anthony Horrowitz who wrote the Alex Ryder books and many
more besides. Currently when it is not rented out it is family home where I live with my wife and
three young daughters. It is not a typical holiday rental with a minimum of furnishings. It’s a real
home with a creative and joyous soul.
