vacation rental description

Notice! There have been quite a few additions to the vacation rental market on St. Simons Island over the past year or more. This is primarily due to the economic crisis. Many homes may not be well furnished or may be in trouble financially, so make sure you do your homework!

This is a classic 1940's Island Cottage Home in a perfect location near the Village! This is not a second home with personal belongings in it, but rather a boutique cottage that we use exclusively for our guests at Island Cottage Company, a family owned business we started 7 years ago! We have lots of repeat guests and are happy to provide references.

This 2 Bedroom, 1.5 bathroom home (sleeps 6) is located just 4 blocks from Mallory Park and the Village/Pier Area on St. Simons, which boasts wonderful pubs, restaurants, two parks, beach access and a new public pool, along with tennis courts and a GREAT little library.

Guests rave about the high quality furnishings, linens and comfortable beds.

The neighborhood is quiet and friendly and has easy access to the
many bicycle and walking paths that St. Simons Island has to offer.

Closed in back porch leads to a deck overlooking a large fenced in
back yard. Complete with an outdoor shower and teak furniture with
umbrella, it is the perfect place for a BBQ with the family.

A large fenced-in back yard, full of our famous Live Oak trees and complete with
swingset, allows the kids and dogs a good place to run while you
grill fresh fish on the large gas grill, complete with gas.

All the neighbors are wonderful people and we take care to ensure that our
guests feel at home and respect the folks that live here permanently.
Loud noise or large parties are not appropriate for this area.

starting as low as ~$28 with cart.

The Village - Cottage is within easy walking distance to 2 parks
(Mallory Park and Neptune Park), public pool, tennis, public library
and the beach. Summer music festivals feature jazz and other local
music groups. Bring a picnic!

The Pool - It might be the only public pool located right on the water on this coast! It is located right next to the lighhouse and is absolutely beautiful (the pride of St. Simons). Swim lessons are offered in the summertime and
lots of locals gather here. Parents can visit the library, the shops or just take a walk while the kids swim. Big kids can ride down by themselves to join their friends!

Dining - From locally prepared seafood at many fine local
establishments, to some of our great southern BBQ with sweet tea,
dining on St. Simons Island is always a great experience. A whole
range of dining options begins in the village, just down the street.
A quiet walk to and from dinner is one of our family's favorite
things about living in this area!

Fishing - Off-shore Deep Sea Fishing charters available most
days weather permitting; Inland Waterway fishing excellent year-
round; surf fishing right on the beach or at the Pier. Try your hand
at crabbing off the pier with the local kids.

Try the Casino Cruise for an evening of offshore dinner and gambling.

Hiking, Exploring - St. Simons Island is literally surrounded by
state and national parks. Take a ferry to Cumberland Island National
Seashore for a historical walking tour or see Okefenokee Swamp by

Estuary - offer an unprecedented view of Georgia and North Florida's
natural beauty.

Guided tours available through local adventure companies.

Horseback Riding - Available through the Sea Island stables located
on the North end of St. Simons Island. Go for a nice ride right on

paths to pick up your groceries for dinner. For a real challenge,
ride your bikes all the way to the north end of the island to tour
Christ Church and Fort Frederica, the site of the original settlement
on St. Simons Island.

Shopping - Historic and quaint, St. Simons Island Village is within
walking distance and is full of cute shops. Spa services and the
shops at the famous Cloister Resort are just a few miles away for the
more upscale tastes. Both the metropolitan areas of Jacksonville and

the cottage.

Sports Fan? Jacksonville is home to the NFL's largest stadium -
Alltel Stadium - brand new and located 60 minutes away. Cath a

football season you can join the many who come to St. Simons Island
for all the festivities.

Like the Theatre? Choose from our local theatre group, the Island
Players, located in the Village next to the library or take a drive
to Jacksonville or Savannah where several fine theatres present
extraordinary shows for your entertainment. The Alhambra Dinner
Theatre presents dinner and fine Broadway shows. The Florida Theatre
hosts the Symphony, Pops and many fine traveling Jazz, Dance and
other entertainers each season. Each year the FCCJ Artist Series
featuring Broadway shows has a number of fine shows at the Time-Union
Center for the Performing Arts.

Museums - The Cummer Museum, Brest Planetarium, Zoological Gardens,
Museum of Modern Art, Aviation Museum, Maritime Museum Society,
Museum of Southern History and Kingsley Plantation are just some of
the major attractions that make wonderful regional day trips.

Go to the Zoo! Just 60 minutes south is the beautiful Jacksonville
Zoo, positioned along the St. John's river. The zoo is quite nice
and can take a full day to see everything properly.

Visit the Millionaire's Village on Jekyll Island, just south of St.

My husband and I stayed for four nights in this cozy cottage and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The house is very well decorated with tasteful furnishings, and the beds/linens were comparable to at least a 4 star hotel. We would highly recommend staying at this property!!!

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet-friendly, sight seeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway
