This charming 1897 two-bedroom home has views over Indian Creek and its nature preserve from almost every window. It gets lots of sunlight and gentle cross breezes and is surrounded by perennial gardens. The master bedroom, two bathrooms and hardwood floors were recently renovated, and the furniture, appliances and kitchenware are all new. There is a queen-sized bed in one bedroom and a full-sized bed in the other, as well as a large, comfortable couch and a single-bed futon for extra sleeping room. It has an eat-in kitchen, a diningroom and livingroom and two porches -- a small covered side porch and a large, open deck in front. The house is a short (5 minute) walk to the village, with its shops and restaurants and just down the road from the local school with basketball courts, soccer and baseball fields and a large new playground. Also a short walk to the library, which has broadband internet access and a large collection of books and dvds.

Vinalhaven is a beautiful classic Maine island 90 minutes off the Rockland coast. It's an ideal place to escape the bustle and pressures of modernday life and relax in a tranquil natural setting, with all the comforts and amenities you'd want for a restful vacation. The house is nearby Lane's Island Nature Preserve with hiking trails along rugged coastline, berry-picking, a beach and picnic area. Vinalhaven is an ideal place for exploring nature on many varied hiking trails, kayaking and biking (rentals in the nearby village), swimming in local quarries and fishing. Fresh lobster harvested daily is sold at the Fisherman's Coop, and there are several good restaurants, cafes and stores in the village. Kids love to go to Go Fish for penny candy and toys, and there are also local shops for books, groceries, hardware, crafts and stationary.

Weekly rates from $900 per week in June and September to $1,000 per week in July and August. $2,700 per month from June - September. Also available through winter and spring season for longer term rental at reduced rates.
