Right on the ocean, with million dollar views of Lunenburg bay,
quiet residential area in historic Lunenburg, a UNESCO world
heritage site. Perfect relaxing on the ocean and as base for
exploring mainland Nova Scotia.
Admiralty House consists of two spacious (1200 square feet), fully
equipped private flats. There is an internal connecting door that
can open up the whole house, if desired, making it perfect for large
family gatherings.
Built in 1926, on a foundation that dates back to the 1800's,
Admiralty House is a marvellous home in a quiet residential section
of Old Town Lunenburg. While this is a very private and tranquil
location, it has the unique advantage of being right on the ocean on
picturesque Lunenburg harbour. The view is absolutely spectacular,
looking west over the harbour and east towards the lighthouse and
across to the green space at Feltzen south, which is adjoined by the
Lunenburg Golf Course (an excellent 9 hole course, right on the
ocean). This fascinating vista, which includes both the sunrise and
the sunset, can be enjoyed from the kitchen, dinning room,
verandah, upstairs deck or the back yard.
To get a closer experience of the sea, visitors can go down the
bank,
to explore the rocks and tide pools. At night, tucked in bed, or
closer at hand other times of day, the sea offers the gentle song of
the waves breaking on the rocks, the call of the sea birds and the
smell of the salt air. We are located just a few hundred feet from
the
public boat docking facilities, so if you are lucky enough to have a
boat, you can see it and reach it easily from the house. And of
course, anyone can feely enjoy the coming and going of the Bluenose
and the other tall masted schooners which frequent the harbour.
The house itself has been wonderfully maintained by three
generations
of a seafaring family, and we are proud to now call it home. It has
always been divided into two totally separate private and spacious
flats of about 1200 square feet each.
The upstairs flat is called the Upper Deck. Outside on the deck or
inside from the lovely picture window in the kitchen; with a cup of
coffee at daybreak or a glass of wine at sunset, the bird's eye view
of the harbour from this flat is spectacular. A "room with a million
dollar view", the eat-in kitchen is a terrific space for cooking and
sharing food and fun. The living room offers quiet relaxation, or
for
those with work to do, an adjoining alcove provides a desk. With
three
bedrooms (a queen and two doubles) and a four piece bath with a
luxory air massage whirlpool tub, there is plenty of space for
private
R&R.
The ground floor flat is called the Captain's Quarters. We think you
will feel like a Captain of a fine ship in this lovely flat,
especially seated in the fabulous glassed in porch on the waterside
of
the house. This glorious room provides wonderful vistas of the
harbour, a perfect vantage point for watching boats, birds, the
sunset
or just absorbing the beauty of the water. Since this is a separate
room, with a very comfortable double futon, the captain may chose to
bunk down here.
Alternately the spacious master bedroom with a queen sized bed or
very
comfortable double futon in the living room could be the sleeping
quarters of choice. A large eat-in kitchen and a gracious dinning
room
give lots of scope for enjoying the bounty of the sea. Other spots
for
quiet relaxation are the living room or the old-fashioned verandah
with sliding glass panels or the luxory air whirlpool massage tub in
the private four piece bathroom.
Each flat or suite is fully equipped to be your home away from home
and includes:
1200 square feet of quality living space
