La Casa Pausa Beach House on Sea of Cortez in La Paz

La Casa Pausa is a lovely beachfront home on the shores of the Sea of Cortez, in Baja, Mexico.
Situated right on the beach, the house is approximately 20 minutes from La Paz, the capital of Baja,
and about 10 minutes from La Paz Airport. The area is renown for its fishing, diving, boating and
whale-watching. It is about 1.5 hours from Todos Santos and 2.5 hours from Cabo San Lucas.

La Casa Pausa offers three spacious bedrooms and two baths, a spacious open living room, dining area
and kitchen, a swimming pool, garage, gardens, hammocks, and both seaside and poolside patios. It
comfortably sleeps seven people. La Casa Pausa is newly built with white stone tile floors
throughout, air conditioning and American appliances and conveniences. It is furnished with Mexican
antiques, hand-carved furniture and hand-woven rugs - all made and purchased locally.

It is completely furnished with linens and dishes. Windows looking out to the sea and pool are
abundant, giving the house an open, uninhibited feeling.

The master bedroom features a king-size bed, a hand-carved wood desk, a hand-carved wooden armoire
and side tables, overstuffed black leather chair and a small library. It is decorated with colorful
coconut shell masks and hand-woven rugs made locally. The master bathroom houses the washer/dryer,
ironing board, a walk-in shower and has a door leading to the swimming pool. Sliding glass doors in
the master bedroom lead to a patio which overlooks the Sea of Cortez.

Another bedroom facing the sea features a king-size bed with a headboard of carved wood and wrought
iron with colorful fish. It also has a wooden rocking chair, hand-carved wood side tables and a hand-
carved chest. The third bedroom houses three twin beds with oversized sliding glass doors leading to
the pool. A colorful selection of hammocks hang on the wall. The beds are covered in vibrantly
colored hand-woven blankets, made and purchased locally. These two bedrooms share the second
bathroom, which features a walk-in shower and huge closet.

The kitchen is fully furnished with ceramic dishes made locally, pots, pans, coffeemaker, blender
and other kitchen items. Kitchen appliances include a microwave, refrigerator with automatic water
and ice cube dispenser, oven, stovetop and garbage disposal.

The living room is furnished with couches, chairs, large antique coffee table and entertainment
center. A television, DVD, video player and stereo are all housed in the center. A large selection
of DVDs, videos and CDs are available.

The private swimming pool (about 6 feet deep) is surrounded with a patio and chaise lounges. There
is a charcoal grill with utensils, handmade outdoor patio furniture, ceramic pots, and beautiful
gardens.

A native Mexican couple takes care of the house, and they live nearby. They both speak English and
can make restaurant recommendations, take you shopping, prepare meals, provide cooking lessons and
answer any questions you have about the area.

Rates for Hawkins Hideaways properties are per night

Low Season (June-September) $195/night

High Season (October - January) $225/night

Shoulder Season (February - May) $205/night


Rates are based upon two people per night. Each additional person is $35/night.
To reserve your time on the beach in Baja, a 50% deposit is required to hold the booking.
The balance, plus a refundable $200 damage depoist, is due one week prior to arrival.
