vacation rental description
Mountaineer House was established in 2006 as a tribute to the great
history of the West Virginia University (WVU) mascot - The
Mountaineer. The house is the original homeplace of the first
official Mountaineer, Bill "Buckwheat" Jackson, 1936. The home
illustrates the 70 + year history of the Mountaineer tradition with
an imformative pictoral display of the past Mountaineers. The home
is centrally located within the small, quaint town of Kingwood, WV,
approximately a 30 minute drive from Morgantown, home of WVU. The
home provides two guest rooms (Gold & Blue Rooms). The gold room
has a king size bed with a large oversized bathroom with old-
fashioned claw-foot tub and walk-in shower. The blue room has a
queen size bed with a full bathroom. The home has a fully-equipped
kitchen with granite counter-tops, and stainless steel appliances.
The balance of the first floor consists of a formal dining room,
living room and 1/2 bath. An expansive deck proceeds from the
dining room with well-landscaped grounds to enjoy seasonal
evenings. The covered front porch has a bench and two person porch
swing.
