traveler reviews for this cayuga lake house rental

An Excellent Vacation getaway

Review submitted: July 6, 2014   Date of arrival: June 19, 2014

I just returned from my first week (plus 2 days) at Lucky Stone Cottage in Interlaken, New York. I am going again in August. It was just my son and I for this trip. The Cottage (really a 3 bedroom house) is beautiful. With two large bedrooms with King size beds (one is a Master suite with a bathroom) and one smaller bedroom with twin beds. There are 2 and a bath bathrooms. There is a large family room and a very inviting living room, a fully equipped kitchen and a little dining area. There is no dish washer, but that did not present a problem for me. I spent a lot of time in the large screened-in porch or on the “beach”. Did a lot of kayaking and hiking. There are ceiling fans throughout the house and air conditioning.
As the description states there is a small County Road between the property and the lake area (hard to see in the photo, but you can see something is ther). I was a little concerned about this, but when I got there it really is a small road with a few joggers, skaters and bicyclists. Very few cars. You can walk to restaurants. The house is very far from the road in a park like setting. The property is beautiful and big, with little trails cut by owner Joe throughout the fields. It really was like an old fashion vacation.
The lake area is large and I left my kayak out there all week. There is a nice sized fire pit and we celebrated July forth with a fire watching fireworks all along the lake. My son (who is an adult) said it was the best Fourth he ever had! I rented a boat from Finger lakes boat rentals. They delivered it the night before my first rental day and picked it up on the last evening. Mark and Holly are the most pleasant, easy going and helpful people I ever encountered running a business. I received a beautiful new reasonably priced boat for 3 days and Mark gave me a detailed lesson on how to use it. I strongly recommend using them if you want to rent a boat. I didn’t catch any fish (my son caught one) but I had a great time on the boat.
We are going back in August when we take my daughter back to Ithaca College. I loved this place. Joe and Chris are excellent hosts and they are there to help you if you need it

Owners response: Thank you for the very nice review. It is very important to us that you find a very clean and comfortable cottage and it also nice to hear when Cayuga Lake and the area is enjoyed. Joe and Chris

Very nice, comfortable house

Review submitted: May 17, 2013   Date of arrival: May 9, 2013

Rented this house while in the Finger Lakes for a wedding. The house was very nice, spacious and well equiped with almost everything one would need. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, tools. Radio with speakers, nice TV and wireless. The house is situated on a lovely road, across the street from the lake with easy access. The two king beds are a definite advantage, and the master bathroom was huge. The only negative was the shower heads; they are extremey low flow with a bad spray, making for a rather unpleasant shower experience. Other than that though, it was perfect!

Recommended for: age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Owners response: Thank you for your positive review. We strive to maintain a high standard and a clean comfortable cottage. We know that you value your vacation time and we hope that Luckystone Cottage is someplace that you will want to return. Following your review, we have replaced both shower heads with the same shower heads that we have in our home. The flow is very good. Thanks again for your review. Joe and Chris.
