traveler reviews for this seneca lake house rental

Very nice place on Seneca Lake, centrally located.

Very nice place to stay. The cottage is centrally located to places like Watkins Glen State Park (a must-see!!), Taughannock Falls, Robert Treman State Park, Havana Glen, Montour Falls, Niagara Falls, Letchworth State Park, Harris Hill, 30+ Wineries, and many other sights and activities. There were so many things to do and places to go, we were rarely at the cottage during the day, but the evening sunsets on Seneca Lake were priceless and the nights in the cottage were very comfortable. Not too much wind and never stuffy or muggy. The cottage itself wasn't the Mariot, but it was better than many places that we've stayed. I would recommend it to friends or family.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, sight seeing

Description was accurate, pictures do not do the property justice. It was clean and well maintained. Few things such as water pressure and leaky faucets could be adjusted. The owners were wonderful, got us situated, answered questions. I would definetly stay here again and would recommend to a friend. 20 minutes away can hike Watkins glen at the south end of senecea lake and head east 20 minutes and hike Taughanuaut?? state park. This was especially good for our young kids. Walked the river bed and swam! This was on Cayuga lake. Mall was 10 more minutes away as was the beautiful town of Ithaca.
There were two families that stayed here and there was still plenty of room. The flagstone patio was nice for outdoor eating. The only thing personally our family was disappointed in was the view...Too many trees blocking the lake view but it did provide shade to keep patio and house cool. Another disadvantage for families with children was the fact the cottage is not directly on the lake, you must walk down many steps or take the steep driveway. We would have liked to have been able to sit on the patio and or cook and be able to allow the children to play in the lake at the same time. Another disadvantage if you are boating...this area of the lake is somewhat more rough than the southern end. We were still able to boat and tube every day though. There is no TV, but the owner does have many books and games and a puzzle to do. We also brought DVD players to watch movies.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, sight seeing, romantic getaway
