renovated heritage home has three sunlit bedrooms, one and a half
bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and spacious living room, dining
room and sunroom.

The 1700 sq. ft. Capes Escape, named after Katherine Capes (1913-
2001), a founder and patron of the Courtenay and District Museum,
makes a perfect stay for those who want a value-added rest amid tall
firs, pines, cedars and Capes family gardens. How Was Capes Escape
Created? First and foremost, there's Katherine Capes, a founding
member of the Courtenay and District Historical Society--one of the
first female archaeologists in Canada and an avid preservationist of
both cultural and natural heritage.

In 1997, Katherine donated the Capes family home to the Courtenay and
District Historical Society for the purpose of "preserving the
historical value of the homestead for the community" and to "further
the objects and purposes of the Courtenay and District Historical
Society."

Fees for your stay at the Capes Escape go directly to improving this
important site and to ongoing Courtenay and District Museum programs.
We invite you to explore the history of the Comox Valley by
participating in fossil field trips and programs the museum has to
offer.

Capes house is situated 15 minutes from the
turnoff to Mount Wahington ski area and five minutes from downtown
Courtenay. The Comox Valley is a great area for mountain
biking,boating, hiking,kayaking shopping and beachcombing. Comox
International Airport-YQQ is ten minutes from the house with direct
flights to Calgary and Vancouver.The E&N Railway from Victoria is
five minutes from the house.
