Great Family Vacation

Review submitted: April 13, 2014   Date of arrival: March 29, 2014

The house was wonderful and so comfortable. Our host was very helpful and thought of every detail. Everyone had there space and enjoyed all the cool spots in and outside the house. We had great fun picking and eating the fruit on the property. We drove all over the island and had great adventures, and were happy to get back to the house and watch the sunset and enjoy dinner. I will be back soon

It was so nice to stay for our family. Bed was so comfortable. That traditional home is very clean.I can play ukulele guitar and piano.I can eat fruit from yard ! Their coffee was excellent. We had very nice time in that home! We want to go back again very much!! Thank you for everything Lisa!! We really appreciated that.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, pet-friendly, sight seeing, romantic getaway

Owners response: The property itself is a wonderful experience, picking the fruit in season, digging kitchen scraps into the compost pile in the garden, picking flowers or just peeking in on all the little corners of the yard while the birds chirp overhead or the social cat follows you about. The home and the yard will delight! Thank you Yoko.

2 Families Looking for Fun and this rental made the vacation.

Review submitted: March 24, 2014   Date of arrival: February 10, 2014

We were two families/8 people, with four kids ages 4-9 and this was our first visit to the Big Island.I can say in all honesty that this home made our vacation. We were very central but away from the beachy/shopping tourist areas. We were able to fully explore the island on our two-week visit. We loved being close to snorkeling (10 minutes away) and to boogie board beaches 30 minutes north. We loved the property that just soaked us up at the end of each day so everyone was at peace gazing at the sunset or running on the grass or napping in the "country quietness" that did include chickens, dogs and doves. Lisa is a wonderful on-site host who was just quietly and not noticeably around and answered all our questions. The house itself is a classic historical family home -- not so fancy that we were worried about the kids wrecking stuff and yet completely clean and outfitted perfectly (especially the wonderful children's toys).
We loved the kitchen and the lanai especially and the acre or so of grass allowed the kids to burn off steam running in the "infinity pasture" and the full Hawaii gardens of bananas and wonderful flowers --even in the Hawaiian winter. Great for folks who want to explore all over or just relax watch the sunsets.
There were a few dogs on the property and an adventuresome cat but as pet owners this was not an issue -- maybe would be if smaller kids or if you are not keen on pets at all. Lisa is completely accommodating, though, so I know there would be no problem. You absolutely need a car here -- you are a steep and narrow shouldered 15-20 minute drive away from Kona and only 1 min from Holualoa which is a quiet little village for coffees and a nice dinner out and art galleries -- hours are definitely "island time" -- nice vibe though. Be sure to check out the owners coffee plantation and visitor center which we missed but regret as we continue to enjoy their amazing coffee - wish we'd bought some more.
SUMMARY: We fell in love with the Big Island in large part because of this home and wouldn't contemplate staying anywhere else when we return.

Recommended for: adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing
