Spectacular view, centrally located

Review submitted: August 27, 2014   Date of arrival: August 14, 2014

Our family of 5 had a great time in the Arenal area. The house is on the hill overlooking La Union, which is centrally located between Arenal and La Fortuna. This is great because we took windsurfing lessons at Tilawa windsurf Center (Tom is a great instructor) which is on the narrow end of the lake and we also did the hanging bridges, hot springs and had a nice lunch in La Fortuna, in the opposite direction. This made neither trip too long as we were right in between the two activities. Cindy was there to open the house and show us around. The house is beautiful and the view is absolutely spectacular; you do need a 4WD vehicle to traverse the road up to the house, but that's true of most everywhere in Costa Rica. We met some new friends at Cindy's restaurant and found they were staying in La Union, so we were able to buy some food in La Fortuna and cook a nice meal in the house and just enjoy a relaxing visit - something you can't do in a hotel room! Alexis did a great job picking the location and building this beautiful home - well done!

Highlight of Great Trip!

Review submitted: August 22, 2014   Date of arrival: August 4, 2014

Our family of 5 just concluded an 8 day visit to Costa Rica. Seven days were in the Arenal Volcano and Lake area and our 3 nights, four days at Finca Centaura were the highlight of a great trip. Though Esteban was away at a US Balloon Festival, Monica and staff were gracious hosts. Moreover, our pre-trip planning with Esteban ensured great activities throughout the visit. Esteban helped secure our rental SUV in San Jose, which was a workhorse for 1000km of travel. Alamo reps pre-programmed most of our intended destinations into the GPS before departure and we USUALLY did not get lost We stayed in the 3 villa section and were extremely satisfied with our living quarters. The middle kitchen/entertainment area was also nice, but it lacks AC and may have a bit more insect activity early in the evening if opening windows and doors essential for use with nice ceiling fans (nothing unexpected or terribly concerning - would recommend the purchase of a couple more ice trays for freezer). Beautiful grounds throughout - able to enjoy some of the fresh fruit from the trees on the grounds. Swimming pool very nice (hot tub as well, but unsure I ever felt heat - again, nothing too disappointing for us and likely would have been remedied if request voiced). Gated property with electronic safe and security system provided more comfort than was likely needed. Close enough to LaFortuna that acquiring food, visiting restaurants and enjoying numerous activities was NOT a problem. Esteban able to reserve zip line tour, rafting trip and horseback ride on successive days. All enjoyable, but raft trip on Balsa most memorable. Great guide, fun trip (sloth and iguana), excellent lunch and tour of Organic Farm outside La Fortuna. Horses with Monica great as well - saw sloth and monkeys. Almost as fun was simply visiting the stables, feeding the horses and observing the huge pigs. Though no balloon ride, Esteban's coffe table book in the kitchen villa gave a sample of that experience as well (and videos exist on-line). Great way to enjoy a wonderful area. Though our stay in a huge home on the north shore of Lake Arenal (just above Toad Hall) the remainder of the trip was also good, Esteban and Monica provided a much more memorable and valuable experience. Pura Vida indeed. Best wishes to Esteban, Monica and staff.

A little piece of Costa Rica paradise

Review submitted: May 12, 2014   Date of arrival: April 14, 2014

We been to Costa Rica a number of times but always stayed at all inclusive resorts. This time we decided to rent a home and do day trips from there. This house has a million dollar view. It's in the nicest part of Costa Rica and we felt completely at home. The house in new, clean and very spacious. The owner and operator were great to deal with and are very helpful if you need suggestions of places to visit. If you enjoy wildlife, this is the home for you! You can expect to see toucans, howler monkeys, parrots and lots of hummingbirds. You are close to two national parks and a short drive from the natural hot springs. Simply park 200 meters south of the Tabicon resort, where the river goes under the road and join local people who enjoy this lovely spot to relax. There are lots of great restaurants and grocery stores, within a short drive. If you're looking at this house and wondering what it would be like, don't hesitate, book it now. You won't be disappointed and you'll be promoting it to all your friends and family. I know we'll be going back one day.
