vacation rental description
Streamside Stay, a proud member of the Arcata Stay Lodging Network,
(Google Arcata Stay to view more information and our own Availability
Calendar) is a two bedroom/one bath second story apartment just two
blocks off of the Plaza and one block away from the North Coast
Cooperative Marketplace in downtown Arcata.
Constructed in 2004 by an environmental consulting firm who
daylighted Jolly Giant creek to the rear of the property, the
building is a model of "green architecture" renowned in ecology
minded Arcata for its design incorporating environmentally friendly
materials and solar energy self sufficiency.
Although conventional in appearance and amenities, it is a showcase
of sustainable construction. STREAMSIDE STAY features natural
linoleum floors, recycled fiber carpets, solar heated water for
domestic use and in-floor radiant heating, solar electricity, Energy
Starâ„¢ appliances, and certified Smart Woodâ„¢ redwood decking harvested
from the Arcata community forest.
The decor is soothing and contemporary, in a neutral color palette of
cream, taupe and blue, enhanced by natural fibers as well as imagery
inspired by nature.
Steps away from its off-street parking area, STREAMSIDE STAY is
accessed through a secure gate leading up a private stairway to the
second level. This is a bright and spacious apartment with many large
windows, vaulted ceilings, and an open floor plan for the living
room, kitchen, and dining area. A breakfast bar with stool seating is
an island separating the kitchen from the living room. Sliding glass
doors in the living room open onto a deck which overlooks Jolly Giant
Creek. Adjacent to the kitchen, there is a work station with a
computer and printer available for guest use. Both bedrooms are
serene spaces featuring a queen bed in the master and a double bed in
the second bedroom and large walk-in closets. A single futon in the
living room and a roll away bed are available to sleep two additional
