Turtle Shore - great house

mom2many1990 (Chattanooga, Tennessee)
Review submitted: August 23, 2011   Date of arrival: August 13, 2011

We loved this property. We took Grandparents with us and everyone had their own space. It is just a short walk across the private boardwalk to the beach. The community pool is across the cul-de-sac so it is also very close. The beds were comfortable as well. The only negative thing we noticed is that it smelled a little funny. It was almost a stale cigarette odor and we had to re-wash all of our clothes when we got home. But once we were in the house, it wasn't noticeable. Overall, this is a great house in a great, private location that we would definitely consider staying in again. We LOVED the kitchen! It's a cooks dream oven! There are small local stores for immediate needs such as milk, eggs and bread and the locals were very friendly and helpful in making sure we enjoyed our week on the island. The decks from both levels were great - we ate our lunch outside and enjoyed the breeze from the ocean every day. It's just a beautiful place to stay. We were all very sad to have to come home!

Recommended for: families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet-friendly, romantic getaway

Owners response: Thank you, Gary, for the kind words. Not sure what to say about the funny smell. As I mentioned to you at the time of the booking, the house had a recent lightning strike and I suppose that could leave a smokey smell behind. We will have a close look around for anything else that may be contributing and be sure to get it smelling fresh as a daisy again. Thanks for being our guests!
