A letter From one of our wonderful guests:

"Five years ago, we found Villa Elpiniki by chance. We knew exactly what we did and did not want from a holiday. We love the Greek islands but weren't sure exactly which island we wanted to visit on this occasion. On paper Villa Elpiniki and Skiathos met all of our criteria.

On arrival we knew immediately that we had found a real gem. As soon as we got outside the airport we were struck by the beauty of the island and the aroma of fresh herbs and plants. The picture of Villa Elpiniki which we had viewed in advance, could only hint of the commanding position it boasts, high up on the hill, nestled amongst loving tendered trees and gardens, giving inviting views of the surrounding area. A short but robust walk, brings you within all of Troulos's amenities and Tavernas selling delicious meals. The joy of being so high above these is that you have unspoiled peace and tranquility. Therefore you can have time at the beach, an action packed evening, or a lengthy meal, but be guaranteed an afternoon siesta or a good nights sleep without interruption.

As for Villa Elpiniki's owner, Kostas, you could not ask for a nicer host. He is a true gentleman to whom nothing is too much trouble. He is rightly proud of his accommodation. Himself and his staff take great care to ensure that everywhere is comfortable, well maintained, spotlessly clean and that his guests have everything they need. Kostas is always available should you need him, but he never intrudes. He is so affordable and welcoming, that it is great to stop, chat and discover more about Skiathos, its people and its way of life.

We have booked our fourth stay at Villa Elpiniki and 2 weeks just isn't enough! So we are going to stay for 3 weeks this time. Only trouble is, it will be even more of a wrench returning home.

In summary, Villa Elpiniki offers a real unspoiled haven, where you can shake off all the strains and stresses of everyday life, slow down unwind and soak up the many delights that Skiathos has to offer".

About the Villa:

Resting in a quiet elevated position with commanding lovely views of the surrounding countryside, the Elpiniki offers beautiful and spacious accomodations. Villa Elpiniki is centrally located on the main road in the area of Troulos. The beach is within walking distance as well as supermarkets, restaurants, bars,and shops. Transportation is available 24 hours a day.

Troulos lies on the south coast and is surrounded by pretty olive groves, verdant farmland and beautiful scenery. Named after the tiny island bathing just offshore - 'troulonissia' - the views across the ocean are glorious. The beach is the jewel in the crown - a golden swathe of buttercup-yellow sand gently washed by breathtaking blue waters.Villa Elpiniki is slightly inland - among the lush greenery - and is centrally located on the main road next to tavernas, shops and other basic amenities.

Just 10 minutes from downtown, the villa rests in a quiet elevated position with commanding lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Villa Elpiniki was built in 1985 with northern greek architectural design, tile roofs,surrounded by green lush gardens and mature pine trees. Villa Elpiniki has year after year continued to make great improvements.All studios and apartments are furnished with single beds, full bathrooms and kitchens with a refrigerator.All kitchenware is provided. All apartments and studios are air conditioned.

Directly across the road at the neighboring property is a full size swimming pool, childrens pool and tennis courts. All guests of Villa Elpiniki are welcome to enjoy the swimming pool with no additional fee. Tennis courts are available for a small fee.

Villa Elpiniki is fully paved with parking available close to your apartment or studio.

Villa Elpiniki is conviently located on the main road with easy access to taxis,rentals and the local bus stop #19 next to our main entrance.

All apartments and studios are air conditioned. We pride ourselves in offering cleaning services that are done everyday.

There are numerous activities offered on the island, but here are a few favorites:

Papadiamanti street: (Main street in downtown Skiathos)

The open-air Cinema Paradiso on Papadiamanti street shows recent hollywood movies and offers a nice ambiance with little chairs, a garden and a little snack bar. Most of the entertainment on Papadiamanti street, Polytechniou street, Evangelistra street and boarding the side of the port, extend on many kilometres. This is where all the shops are located for souvenirs or a new outfit. Along the way there are small restaurants and bars.

Numerous Bars and Clubs offered on Skiathos:

Very modern and trendy bars are succeeding one another on a climbing street on the left side of the harbor with electronic and international pop music.A very relaxing athmosphere with candles, colorful lights, sofas and cushions lying right on the stone paved street.There is also a new strip of trendy clubs on the east side of the harbor down the road from the bus terminal. The themes of each club are influenced by places all over the world.

Great Restaurants on the island:

"No Name" :(Great gyro place)
Skiathos has many gyro sandwich places but i recommend a little place off of the main street called "No Name". Great gyros for a good price!


Paradosi: (great place to dine near Villa Elpiniki)
Paradosi, meaning "traditional", offers great food at reasonable prices .A friendly atmosphere with the great service of Christos and Soula, owners of Paradosi. You will find Paradosi Restaurant opposite bus stop 18 on the Troulos junction on Skiathos. Whether you want an English Breakfast, Pizza or try one of the traditional Greek dishes.

Windmill Restaurant: (beautiful spot for a night out)
This unique restaurant that sits above the beautiful port of skiathos provides fabulous food, created and served by a smiling professional team to offer an exceptional dining experience.


Tourist attractions:

Bourtzi:

In 1207 the Gyzi brothers captured the island and built the Bourtzi, a small Venetian-styled fortress similar to the Bourtzi in Nafplio, on an islet just out of Skiathos town, to protect the capital from the pirates. But the Bourtzi was ineffective in protecting the population and in the middle 14th century the inhabitants moved the capital from the ancient site that lay where modern Skiathos town is to Kastro (the Greek word for castle), located on a high rock, overlooking a steep cliff above the sea at the northernmost part of the island. Kastro remained the only settlement of the island until the end of the Greek War of Independence, when the island's capital was relocated to the original site - where it still remains. Bourtzi was a school through the 1980's which was coverted to its current state as a museum and cafe.

Skiathos Harbor:

Skiathos town is a port which shelters small boats and from where ferry services connect to Skopelos, Volos, Agios Konstantinos and the rest of Greece. You can also board a boat which will take you around the island and to all the best beaches.

Papadiamantis House:

Papadiamantis was born on the island of Skiathos, in the western part of the Aegean Sea.It is the house in which Alexandros Papadiamantis, one of the most important Greek authors of the past century was born, lived and died. It was built in 1850 -1860 by father Adamantios, the author's grandfather. The ground floor was used for storage and the first floor for habitation. The first floor is preserved as the house of Alexandros Papadiamantis with its original furniture and objects of the time, whereas the ground floor is functioning as an exhibition room of different traditional objects of Skiathos. In 1954 the building was bought by the State and since then it belongs to Skiathos Municipality. In 1965 it was characterized as a preserved monument by the Ministry of Culture.
