vacation rental description
Wake to the sound of water lapping against the docks. Watch the ducks parade by your deck every morning and evening. Hear the loons call and see the herons float by. The fish jump as you enjoy the sunset. Rent a boathouse right on the water on the East Shore of Bonaparte, a crystal clear lake on the western edge of the Adirondacks. (Named after Joseph Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon and once King of Spain who fled to America and had a refuge right on the lake.)
Two boathouses, side by side, offer comfortable living quarters over the water. (Look for "Blue Heron Boathouse Cabins - Waterloo" on this site to see the other one.) With fully equipped kitchens and modern baths, you can enjoy the comforts of home while you have easy access to a sandy swimming area, to a canoe for exploring the lake, and a family recreation area lighted at night. With picnic tables, swings, a sand box, playhouse, horseshoe pit and fire ring, there is something for all ages.
These are seasonal cottages. We rent them from May 15 - October 31.

cabin rental amenities
Each boathouse has an over-the-water deck or porch; sleeps six; has an eat-in kitchen equipped with blender, coffee maker, microwave, and all dishes & pots & pans; a bath with shower; and is stocked with books, puzzles and games, a TV and DVD/CD/VCR player. The nearby village of Harrisville has a grocery, farm market, restaurants, and a library. Carthage to the west has a laundromat.
Each boathouse has its own boat slip and we have caught bass right off the decks, along with perch, blue gills and bullheads. Camping has never been easier, more comfortable or more fun.
activities and attractions in Lake Bonaparte Adirondacks
Fishing, swimming, boating, flea markets, Splash Mountain in Old Forge, Charterboat fishing on Lake Ontario, antiquing, golf, hiking, biking and scenic driving in the Adirondack State Park, shopping and riding the ski lifts to see the mountain views in Lake Placid, country music festivals, Thoroughbred Horse Racing in Saratoga, Casinos at Turning Stone, and much more. All this within a 2 hour drive of your cabin or right at the lake.
Lake Bonaparte is rich with deep water Brown Lake Trout, Large Mouth Bass, Great Northern Pike, Perch, Blue Gills, and Bull Heads. The lake is great for sail boats, canoes and kayaks, power boats & jet skis, water skiing, tubing, etc. Many inlets and shoals. It has a 25 mile shoreline with all the inlets. See otters, ducks, blue herons, loons, deer (I saw one swimming in the lake once!) Lake Bonaparte is a wildlife paradise, a vibrant living lake on a limestone bed, untouched by acid rain or pollution. Come check it out!
