vacation rental description
Located in the heart of Washington's Columbia Heights neighborhood, this unit features three bedrooms and three bathrooms in approximately 1800 square feet of living space. The property, located just one block from Metro's Green and Yellow lines in the historic neighborhood of Columbia Heights, features a fresh and modern design.s
Columbia Heights borders the neighborhoods of DuPont Circle, Adams Morgan, Mount Pleasant and the U Street Corridor, a vibrant center of history, culture, and entertainment.
Celebrated for its rich heritage and diversity, Columbia Heights is where the charmingly traditional meets the latest in urban planning. The neighborhood stands today as a dynamically evolving community dotted with new venues for performing arts and zesty Latin eateries. Coffee shops, grocery stores, and department stores are all within walking distance, including Giant Food, Target, Best Buy, Staples, FedEx Office, Rumberos, Five Guys, The Heights retaurant and many others.
Finding somewhere to eat isn't a matter of what, but where. There are about 20 restaurants around the Columbia Heights Metro stop ranging from quick and easy fast food such as Five Guys & Fries to white linen dining at Nob Hill Restaurant. A mere four blocks away is the historic neighborhood of Adams Morgan, which offers visitors several blocks of bars, restaurants, and diners. There are plenty of places to go and plenty of things to do, and all within walking distance.
Located less than a mile up from DuPont Circle, Columbia Heights is situated on a hill leading down to the White House and the National Mall. The National Mall is easily accessible from the neighborhood by Metro, both bus and subway, which is located just a block from the property. Finding a car is as simple is stepping to the curb and raising your arm. Either way, the heart of downtown is only five or ten minutes away.
While visiting Washington, we recommend seeing some of the neighborhoods that border Columbia Heights. Located just three blocks from our unit is D.C.'s resident eclectic neighborhood, Adams Morgan. At the crossroads of 18th Street and Columbia Road NW, Adams Morgan is a vibrant center celebrated for its diversity and eccentricity. This area boasts the largest display of expressive art in the city. Colorful and evocative murals can be easily discovered by simply walking the streets of this lively district. Additionally, it is a multi-cultural bazaar of one-of-a-kind shopping and international flavors, along with excellent examples of late-19th and early-20th century row houses and apartment buildings. At night, Adams Morgan transforms into one of the city's hotspots for music, dancing, and bars. Madam's Organ is only one local favorite with the city's young professionals.
Just south of Columbia Heights is the historic U Street Corridor. Dubbed the Harlem of Washington and Black Broadway, U Street was the center of Washington’s music scene in the first half of the 20th century. Jazz greats Ella Fitzgerald, Pearl Bailey and Duke Ellington could be found performing at the Lincoln Theater, Howard Theater, and other clubs and jazz venues. The area remains a destination for good music and young people from all over the metropolitan area come to the city to enjoy performances at the 9:30 Club, The Black Cat, and Bus Boys & Poets, among other hot night spots. Be sure to stop in at Ben's Chili Bowl for a half smoke-and-chili dog. The U Street Corridor is accessible by foot and is on Metro's Green/Yellow line.
At the heart of the city and not far from Columbia Heights is the tony neighborhood of DuPont Circle. Located in a section of Washington called Old City, DuPont Circle is a traffic circle, neighborhood, and historic district. The area is anchored by a beautiful fountain honoring Rear Admiral Samuel Francis Du Pont. A number of historic homes can be found throughout the area, including the post-presidential residence of Woodrow Wilson. DuPont Circle is another destination for fine dining and entertainment. On the weekend, DuPont Circle has one of the largest organic farmers' markets in the city. This neighborhood is accessible by foot or cab and is on Metro's Red line.
