activities and attractions in San Miguel de Allende Central Mexico
San Miguel is a beautiful, colonial city with many lovely old buildings and cobblestone streets. The entire town has been declared a national monument so you don't see any high rise buildings. There are many expatriates that live in the city, and there is a wonderful mix of Americans, Canadians, Europeans, and of course locals. Everyone seems to get along surprisingly well. Many restaurants and tourist attractions cater to the ex-pat population, so English is spoken in many places. Almost every week there a festival of some sort, so it is quite a colorful city. It is not unusual to see Mexicans on horseback coming in from some other city to attend a celebration. Many artists, sculptors and other creative folks live in San Miguel. The town has some wonderful art, and of course, fabulous pottery and ceramics.Horseback riding, and tennis are available close to town. There are several spas in the area. The weather is pretty warm during the day from Dec thru March, and gets a little breezier at night. It is really quite a nice, peaceful place.
