If so, Playa Negra will be your perfect retreat. Being a little off the beaten tourism path (yet only 1.2 hrs from LIR airport) affords the beach town authenticity and peacefulness that can be hard to find these days.  A unique quality of Playa Negra is that there are 7+ beaches within both walking and short driving distance that offer distinctively alluring personalities: from white sand, to black sand or volcanic lava reef tidal pools; each beach's ambiance is a new adventure! A throw back to Costa Rica past, there are plenty of restaurants and near-by activities, yet this beach pueblo is thankfully condo, franchise and high-rise hotel free. You do not need a 4 wheel drive; an suv is recommended for suspension comfort. Roads are unpaved 15 minutes East and 30 minutes North; a little bouncy, yet great thing as it keeps us from getting overdeveloped like many of the popular beach towns that now look like the Florida strip.

Our Romantic Tropical Cottage is an exceptional Value in an Gated OceanFront Community. Mango Tango is about 5 minutes drive to the tiny town center, and just 200 Meters to the Pacific. The home is insid a gated community, and also offers private gated parking in front of the house. Enjoy the sound of waves from our private pool & 300SF Covered Patio with outdoor dining and lounging. Casa Mango Tango is nestled in the tree-tops on the wild-life filled river-front (Don't worry! the riverfront has no more mosquities than the oceanfront, and rarely gets the black knats that may seasonally be on the ocean in evenings). Home is just a 4 minute Stroll to the best local lava reef snorkeling spot, & 8-10 minute walk to Famous Playa Negra surfing break and "Sandy" Swimming Beach near the beachfront restaurant.

Casa Mango Tango is surrounded by mature forest, and overlooks the Pargos riverfront on a cul-de-sac (with empty lots on each side of us). Mornings and evenings the riverfront trees are often teeming with birds, Iguanas, butterflies, monkeys, squirrels, racoons, Coati Mundi's and more. Depending on the tide, you can walk from our home along the beaches to Playa's Negra (8 minutes), Avellanas (40 minutes hike or 10 minutes drive), Blanca (30 minutes hike or 15 minutes drive) and Junquillal (45 minutes hike or 15 minute drive). It is fun to try a new beach each day!

Mango Tango's 1200 Sf interior living space offers 3 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms. While not a large home, it's vaulted hardwood ceilings, plentiful windows and multiple french doors create a wonderful ambiance. The home size is perfect for a couple, or for up to 6 adults. Note if traveling with small children, that the downstairs bedroom entrances are separate from the home above. When renting it is for whole home and private pool, but it would not be appropriate for young children to sleep downstairs by themselves. The main floor with dining, kitchen and living area, is tree-top height; from the sofas and dining area enjoy a full wall of windows that opens outward over the mature riverfront forest, caribbean blue private pool and tropical landscape.

Our Sunny, Well Stocked Kitchen features granite counters & traverting backsplach, a full oven/gas stove, coffee maker, toaster oven, wine glasses & opener, butcher block knife set, lots of cooking, serving and storage dishes, even a full stock of spices!

A Great Night's Sleep: Soft sheets, quilted mattress pads & A/C. Each bedroom has a large Cedar armoire for clothing. Upstairs Bedroom # 1: Queen bed, Memory Foam topper, romantic RL Northern Cape bedding, riverfront balcony with bistro set over the river for morning coffee. Upstairs Bedroom #2: Queen bed + twin Bed over-top, Step out balcony (family friendly railings are to US code for ages 2+) The Downstairs Bedroom #3 features its own bathroom & 2 sets of sliding glass doors that open to the tropical landscape. All 3 bedrooms have ceiling fans, cedar armoires & mattress pads.

2 Bathrooms, 1 upstairs bathroom (shared by 2 upstairs bedrooms) & 1 downstairs bath; feature granite, vessel sinks & spa style rain showers with massage wands. We also have an outdoor shower for rinsing off after the beach.

Outdoors:  The Caribbean blue tile pool with granite accents featues 2 in-pool benches that seat 6-8 people + a tanning ledge large enough for 3 adults!. There is a built-in outdoor dining area by the pool of 2 long benches for 6 + a round dining table and chairs under the Guanacaste tree. The outdpoor covered patio offers a lounging area for 4, and beautiful cedar and Guanacaste wood dining set for 8.  Beach Towels, a cooler and Weber Q grill are provided for guest use. In addition to native hardwood trees, our yard has numerous stone islands filled with Heleconia species (hummingbird fav's), ornamental bananas, ixora (butterflies love!), Christmas Tree palms, Cocoa Palms+. Head to the beaches in the morning, and relax in our shady yard in afternoons.

Casa Mango Tango has a locking bodega with washer/Dryer & Surfboard rack, 1 Lg A/C upstairs, 2nd A/C in riverfront bedroom and 3rd A/C  in downstairs bedroom, 7 Ceiling Fans throughout & Wi-FI. A cooler,  pool floats, Weber Q Grill & Beach towels are available.

Local Activities and services: Surfing, Sun bathing, multiple Yoga classes, large "pool style" skateboard park, Paddle Board Lessons, Mountain Bike Tours, sunset horseback rides, Sand-Castle Building, Bird & animal watching, Shell Collecting, Surf Fishing, Lobster Spearing, Salsa Lessons & Nature Walks, getting a custom swimsuit, dress or rashguard made; are a few things to enjoy while in Playa Negra. There are several tour guides, surf shops, and a small spa available in town. Massages are available on the beach, or at the house.  GOLF can be played at Pinilla, about 20 minutes drive North (hubby goes there daily for work). Our home is just 15 minutes to Canopy Pura Aventura Zip-Line, atv and horse-back tours. Sunset horeback rides are available 10 minutes walk from the house.
