Meiringen lies in the heart of Switzerland, in the German speaking part. Interlaken is home to the famous Jungfrau, Top of Europe and Lucerne hosts Mount Pilatus and Rigi. The drive to Zermatt to go and see Mt. Matterhorn is just another two hour drive across Grimsel Pass. On Furka Pass you can go inside the glacier, birthplace of the river Rhone.
