Lovely garden apartment on exclusive Malibu Road beach. There is a short stairway to the beach from the door of your apartment. At high tide, the waves lap right under your balcony. At low tide, the beach stretches for miles. There are 3 sea kayaks and multiple boogey boards stored underneath the bldg and two bicycles. Cycle the 2 miles down quiet Malibu Road to shops, restaurants, art classes, yoga classes, bookstore, Starbucks and movie theater in the center of Malibu. Take surfing lessons at Surfrider Beach, hike the trails in the adjacent Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area and body surf at Zuma Beach. Enjoy the long walks at sunset on the beach and enjoy the ocean views from your private deck.
King-size bed in bedroom, additional queen-size bed in ocean alcove. Living area has TV, DVD, high speed internet and working fireplace. Garage accommodates one car inside and one out. Full bath, kitchen and beach shower. Linens, towels, beach chairs, beach towels and umbrellas. Limited to four persons.

Seven night minimum. $1000 refundable damage deposit. $100 cleaning fee. 

Rent for June is $1800 per week; July is $2200 per week; August is $2500 per week thru early September; September (Malibu's nicest month) is $1900 per week. May and October are $1650/week. All other months are $1500 per week except for certain holiday weeks.

Heaven on earth

We (that means Dad, Mom and a teenager of 15 years visiting from Switzerland) spent almost 2 weeks here in Malibu and it was just great. The moment we stepped into this home we felt great. It was home away from home. Even better because at home we don't hear the Pacific Ocean and don't have a view to it and we also miss the walks on the beach. We saw dolphins a couple of time (we now know that this is not very special event for locals :-) but for us it was. And one day we even saw a whale, what an experience.
The flowers and the very nice bottle of wine just made us feel welcome even more. This place is very well kept and so nicely furnished. What we also appreciated that there was enough kitchenware, so cooking our own meals was no problems. Also to mention is that the home was very well cleaned upon our arrival. I think that is very important.
We felt very sorry to have to leave and dearly hope to come back and I am pretty sure we will. We have lost our heart to a place in Florida and now we have a place in California that we have to come back too, because a piece of our heart was left here too.
We really want to thank the owners to have let us stay at their home.
The location is great and we explored Los Angeles and went up to Santa Barbara and one day even to Pismo Beach for an ATV experience.

So, fact is we can recommend this home to anyone who is thinking of coming here.

I'm so sorry not to have written my review sooner. I've rented quite a number of rental homes, San Diego, Huntington Beach, and Laguna Beach in California, Miami Beach in Florida, and Soundview Beach and Old Colony Beach in Old Lyme, CT. Although this year, we'll be staying on the East Coast and going to Myrtle Beach, SC (are you seeing a theme here?), I plan on coming back to THIS rental in 2014. A nice touch were the vases of flowers left for my arrival. For the first four days I just relaxed and stayed on the balcony except for a trip to Ralph's for groceries and dinner with a friend in LA. It was late October, warm enough on the balcony to sit and read but cool enough at night to light the fireplace. As the sun began to dip in the late afternoons, I would pour a glass of wine and watch the sun set, listening to the waves crash below me. If this unit were any closer to the water during high tide, it would be IN the water. I would actually have to stand at the railing and look down to see the edge of the water. I saw dolphins throughout the day almost every day and even saw a seal close to shore once. My cousin joined me on Thursday for the duration of my vacation and I was finally ready to go out and explore the surrounding area. I have no idea whether the bed was comfortable or not (although my cousin tells me it was) because I slept every night on the bed in the Ocean Alcove, waking up every morning to the sight of the ocean. This was relaxation at its finest. I did choose to leave my husband home for this vacation because he's one who likes to always be on the go when we vacation and I really wanted this vacation to just relax, read, and de-stress. As I've mentioned, I've rented beach homes many times and they've been nice but this is the first time I've wanted to return to the same place. There's simply nothing to complain about. The only thing I would mention is that while I was there, I was inundated with little ants. This is not a reflection on the unit (or my cleanliness) however. This is something that occurs many times in beach homes. I'm only mentioning it here in case this occurs with someone else. Spray them with Windex and the ammonia kills them immediately. I've had them with other beach rentals as well. I can't wait to return and only wish I had more vacation time this year so I wouldn't have to wait until 2014.

This home is where our heart is

I've been meaning to write a review since our last stay but never got around to doing it. Then, here I am... at the office... dreaming of beeing somewhere else...
Thinking of my family and I's favorite place, Malibu rd in this bucolic and warm home on the beach.
We've spent our last two vacations here and nevere want to go anywhere else again!
This home is warm and doesn't feel rental at all, doesn't feel fake, design nor cold... with a real feeling of home away from home.Yet it has everything you can possebly need and more!
Waking up in the morning seeing seaguls and dolphins outside our window...living barefoot all day, my son playing on the beach, my husband and I learning to surf near here, living the local life... driving around down pch... and falling asleep to the relaxing sound of the waves...
This home is such a bargain for all it gives you! It is near all the local restaurants, shopping, surfing,hicking...
But the nicest thing about this place are the owners. They are always so kind, bringing us flowers one time and letting us stay a couple of extra days another... There are no nicer people you could rent a home from and no other place my family and I love more; This home is where our heart is!

I'll be dreaming about this place until next time!
