Skagit Bay Waterfront Cabin in LaConner

vacation rental description

Cabin, Studio + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)

Your hosts John & MarySue Brooks invite you to enjoy the magnificent views of water, islands, mountains, eagles, herons and sunsets from their 600 sq. ft. waterfront cabin on Skagit Bay which they have named Souls Rest Retreat Cottage.

The simple cabin is comfortably furnished and pleasantly decorated, and is a perfect place for a romantic get-away, a personal retreat, or just to relax, take walks, and savor the beauties of nature. The living space is open and light, with a sleeping nook with a partial partition off the kitchen-living-dining area.  Not everything matches and there are some funky things (like the fiberglass shower stall) which one often finds in a beach cabin, but there are many modern conveniences, as well, and the view and location are incomparable.

From the parking area on a quiet road, you will walk down our mostly level, 150-ft. woodland path lined with Douglas fir trees and sword ferns to the cabin.  Our year-round neighbors on either side are quiet and friendly, but keep to themselves and provide a sense of community without loss of privacy.  From the deck, you have a sweeping view of Skagit Bay.

It is located just 10 minutes west of the historic little town of La Conner where you can shop, visit museums and enjoy several nice restaurants.  There is also a quiet public beach a short drive away.  A 25-minute drive will take you through the town of Anacortes to San Juan Island ferries or two beautiful, waterfront state parks at Deception Pass.

Thank You for Your Wonderful Space

Tim & Priya (Vancouver, BC)
Review submitted: January 11, 2012   Date of arrival: December 26, 2011

Just a quick note to say thank you for your wonderful space - it was so calm and quiet and exactly what we wanted, such a wonderful place to sketch and paint - we both really enjoyed
being in the cabin, lots of cooking and relaxing and settling in to the view - the place has everything one would need to settle in, and is a great base from which to explore...such an interesting history both on the reserve then off, we adored the antique shops all around

Would love to consider coming back in future.

A Week-End of Rest & Renewal

Amy (Vancouver, BC)
Review submitted: October 22, 2011   Date of arrival: October 4, 2011

Take two tired and stressed professional women, add 48 hours of quiet, water and mountain views, and good food, and you get two happy ladies with their batteries recharged.

From the time we started down the trail from the parking area to the cabin to the last time we closed the cabin door behind us, we savored every moment. We marveled at the changing of tides, laughed as the tiny birds drove the neighbor’s cat crazy, and enjoyed the neighbor dogs’ visits.

Thank you for sharing your dear little cabin with us for a week-end of rest and renewal.

Cozy, clean cabin. Wonderful retreat.

You have to visit this fantastic cabin!
My daughter and I had the pleasure to stay here for a mother/daughter getaway. We could not have been more pleased. The cabin is very clean, very well equipped and very comfortable. The owners have made sure to provide the amenities necessary.
I read a previous complaint and after staying there, found it to be completely unfounded!
The trail to the cabin is not a problem and I use a cane most of the time. The neighbors' dogs just came to greet us and were not a problem at all. The clothes at the cabin are outerwear offered to guests for inclement weather and we thought that was thoughtful. The complaint I read was nothing short of ridiculous.
The view is incredible and we spent most of our time on the deck taking in the beauty. Got fabulous pictures of sunrise and sunsets. You have to see it. We brought our own recliners and that worked out very well.
BBQ is ready to go with charcoal provided and we ate out on the deck.
John and Marysue( the owners) were very accommodating and great to deal with. They take great pride in their little piece of heaven. Thank you for sharing it with guests.
The rate for the cabin is so reasonable for what you get. You will not find anything else even close..
We returned after 3 days completely refreshed, and very happy with our choice of this cabin.
We will be sure to visit again!
