Casa Dos is a restored colonial located on the best street in "El Centro" which is
the historical heart of Merida, Yucatan. The house has been designed with both comfort and style in mind. Great attention was given to each detail in order to make sure Casa Dos would be comfortable for an evening or for a lifetime. This location is walkable to the main square as well as all the museums, art galleries and the famous Paseo de Montejo.
Casa Dos is full of architectural details from the Colonnade of Columns to the tiniest details such as the ancient doorknobs and stone flooring. The oldest part of the building is the front section which has very high ceilings and old wooded beams. This part of the house is built around two Italianesque Style gardens which give you the indoor / outdoor living that Merida is so famous for having. There are blooming plants, lime trees and a trough type fountain that frames these first two garden areas. Along this colonnade of columns and gardens there is one master suite with a Barrel Vaulted ceiling that reminds one of an old church building. Next to this suite is the heart of the home - the kitchen. This kitchen is a Chefs kitchen with everything you could desire. It's style is rustic yet modern with polished concrete countertops and custom finishes inspired from the Old Haciendas of the Yucatan. The kitchen is fully equipped with high end appliances including dishwasher, stainless steel refrigerator with ice and purified water in the door, Convection oven and gas cooktop. There is even purified water at the kitchen sink.
The center area of this property is the outdoor living area. This is where you will spend most of your time. There are areas for dining and for lounging beside the pool. This area has a Tejaban roof which is made from the old French roof tiles made in Marseilles and then imported into Mexico hundreds of years ago. Next to this terrace is the pool which is lined in glass tiles and is fully filtered. There is a garden lined with various types of Palm trees and blooming heliconias which attract the humming birds each morning. Most mornings you can see and hear a number of green parrots fly over as you drink your coffee.
Just past this main garden/ pool area is a step into the modern world with a huge master suite designed to be a contrast to the original old part of the property. This oversized suite has its own private terrace and garden. The room is lined on two sides with glass walls overlooking two different garden areas. In the master bath there is a marble shower with a glass door opening to the garden so that you have a choice to shower indoors or have the feeling of being outdoors. In addition the shower features the rain shower head that floats in the ceiling so that you have the sensation of being in the rain rather than just being in an ordinary shower.
Casa Dos is a three bedroom and three bathroom property. The master bedroom is extremely large with a queen size bed, flat screen television and its own sound system as well as private bathroom. In the second bedroom you will also find a queen size bed and private bathroom. There are a variety of areas for entertaining or relaxing both indoors and outdoors.

activities and attractions in Merida Yucatan
Merida – the White City – is an approximately 500 year old Colonial City in Mexico. The city center houses one of the largest groupings of Colonial Buildings in Mexico. Merida is full of contrasts – it is historical yet modern, tranquil yet busy, original yet happening.
One of the first things that you will notice about Merida is that most every night of the week there is something to do. Most of it free and open to everyone locals and tourists alike. There is music and dancing in a variety of squares around ‘El Centro†as well as art openings and normally some new event of interest.
The original wealth of Merida was produced via the old Henequen Haciendas. Before the invention of plastic rope – henequen was needed worldwide and the Yucatan was the best source for henequen. With this wealth, great buildings were built that today serve as museums, concert halls, art galleries, restaurants and magical homes.
Merida is cultural, tropical and one of the most endearing places that you can find in the world today.
The location in the Yucatan Peninsula positions Merida to be the gateway to all of the Mayan ruins including – Chichen Itza and Uxmal. Cancun is 3 hours from Merida, Playa del Carmen is 3.5 hours from Merida and Progreso is 30 minutes away. You could spend years exploring the entire Yucatan Peninsula and not see it all.
