"The Barn" is a perfect waterfront romantic getaway for two or for a visiting artist or photographer intent on capturing the beauty of our island. It's located in front of our home at the head of Bass Harbor (tidal) with wonderful views, awesome sunsets and easy access to the shore for kayaking.
"The Barn" has a beautiful rustic post and beam loft with cathedral ceilings and sky lights. An open living plan includes kitchenette, bedroom area, living area and bathroom with shower.
A Vermont Castings gas fireplace will take the chill off those cool Maine evenings.

There are three golf courses on Mount Desert Island:

Restaurants in Southwest Harbor/Bass Harbor: Thurston's Lobster Pound, Sip's for coffee and home baked pastries every morning, Red Sky for fine dining, Chow Mein for sushi, Fiddler's Green, Mainley Delights across from the Swan's Island Ferry, Gilley's Head of the Harbor for lobster and Sawyer's Market for home made soups and salads.
Bike to Bass Harbor Lighthouse, Ship's Harbor and Wonderland.
Bar Harbor is a 15 min drive to the other side of the island for hiking the carriage trails, mountain climbing and whale watching trips. Rent a kayak or canoe or mountain bike the carriage trails.
Leave your car at "The Barn" and take the "Islander Bus" (for free), which will pick you up right in front of "The Barn".
