"The Barn" on Mt Desert Island, Acadia Nat'l Park in Acadia

"The Barn" is a perfect waterfront getaway for two.  It's located in front of our home at the head of Bass Harbor (tidal) with wonderful views and easy access to the shore for kayaking.
"The Barn" has a beautiful rustic post and beam loft with cathedral ceilings and sky lights. An open living plan includes kitchenette with everything you need, bedroom area, living area and bathroom with shower.
A Vermont Castings gas fireplace will take the chill off those cool Maine evenings.

There is a small patio area behind "The Barn".

Farmer's Market in Southwest Harbor, Bar Harbor & Northeast Harbor

Golfing at Kebo Valley Golf Club in Bar Harbor, the 8th oldest club in the country, the 9 hole Causeway Club in Southwest Harbor or Northeast Harbor Golf Club.

Take a nature cruise to the outer islands and see the famous Bass Harbor Light House from the water.  See remains of granite quaries,  a working salmon farm and our resident seal population.

Bike to Bass Harbor LightHouse, Ship's Harbor & Wonderland.

Visit the Cranberry Islands, take a cruise on the schooner Rachael Jackson or the Margaret Todd. 

Bar Harbor is a 20 min drive to the other side of the island for hiking the carriage trails, mountain climbing and whale watching trips.  Rent a kayak or canoe or mountain bike the 57 miles of carriage trails or take a horse drawn carriage ride through the park.  Stop for tea and popovers on the back lawn of the Jordan Pond House.  Watch the sunrise or sunset from the top of Cadillac.

Leave your car at "The Barn" and take the "Islander Bus" (free), which will pick you up right in front of "The Barn" & take you all over the island.

Fall on MDI:

The leaves start turning mid September and peak is ususally mid October.
