Beautiful colonial house in great location

I stayed at Casa del Naranjo for 9 days with colleagues; we were attending a conference. We all totally loved the house, the way it has been beautifully restored, its spaciousness, the lovely long pool, the courtyard lighting, its simiplicity. I really enjoyed doing yoga on the rooftop every morning! The location was perfect for us, half way between the Zocalo and our conference at Fiesta Americana, only 1 block from Santa Ana square, on the bus route, and while the street is busy during the day, the traffic stops at night. Eduardo, the property manager, and his family, were extremely sweet and helpful, bringing us wine, fresh flowers and tonnes of special sweet cookies! He sorted out the gas when it ran out, got some extra keys for all of us, and provided an extra fan for the small room when our colleague was being attacked by mosquitos every night (I would recommend putting a mosquito net in that room - they didn't die with insect spray!).
Overall we had a really wonderful experience staying in Casa del Naranjo, thanks!

Spacious and relaxed setting

We were a party of 6 adults who had not spent time together in many years. The wrong setting could be fatal, I am happy to report that Cas del Naranja was a gem. Conveniently located in the colonial city of Merida we were able to experience the city without a car. However there is a secure parking space on premise if you choose to rent a vehicle. The bedrooms were spacious, nicely appointed, each with a private bath. The outdoor areas had ample seating for relaxing poolside. The kitchen was adequately equiped for home cooking. Best of all the adjacent dining room was the perfect setting for family dinning, games or conversation. Casa del Naranja gets 5 out of 5 stars.

Recommended for: age 55+, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sight seeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway

Relaxing week in Merida

This home was a wonderful retreat for our week-long stay in Merida. The property manager met us and we were great with flowers, a selection of Mexican pastries, bottled water, and other goodies to start off our stay. The kitchen is well stocked with all the items you need to cook your meals. We loved the opportunity to start the day with coffee and smoothies (using the blender, fresh fruit, and yogurt). The home is spacious and beautiful. Since we were there during the hottest part of the year, the pool was a wonderful relief from the heat. The home is beautifully maintained and our property manager was wonderful is checking with us on any needs we had.

The home is just a few blocks from the plaza and there were plenty of shops for any needed food. On Saturday nights, the Fiesta Mexicana was just 3 blocks away on Paseo de Montejo. The small cafe, El Cubanito, provided very economical meals that you can arrange to have prepared and delivered to the house (just 2 doors down from the house). We also enjoyed Restaurant Kantun (1 1/2 blocks away) with delicious seafood. There is an good sized ISSTY store about 1/2 block south of Parque Santa Ana on Calle 60 which offers most of the groceries you would need.

We had very good results using Turitransmerida(corner of calle 55 & 58) to arrange tours of the nearby ruins. We arranged a private tour for the 6 of us to explore the Puuc Route and visited Uxmal, Labna, Kabah, and Sayil. We arranged to leave earlier than the usual tours and had a wonderful day with our guide, Jorge. We also took the city tour, offered in from a company that leaves from Parque Santa Lucia.

The home had wireless internet, a television, and washer/dryer. There is a roof-top terrace as well as 2 patio areas, one with a lily pond and the other around the pool(with ceiling fans). Four of the rooms have double beds and another small bedroom has a single bed. There were instructions providing information about nearby shops, a map, and helpful hints about the city.
